Don't Leave ~ Joey Birlem

It was a warm, sunny Sunday in July. My boyfriend and I were going to swim at his house. I got to his house around 11:30. We ate lunch, and went outside.

The same weekend, Joey's family was dog sitting one of the Gitnick's dogs. He had something wrong with his leg, so they took Angel and Paige with them on their weekend trip, and left Tawny with Joey.

We went out to swim and we had to take Tawny out with us because Joey was the only one home. We swam for almost three hours while Tawny roamed around and slept under a lounge chair.

It got closer to the time I had to leave, so I told Joey I was going to get out, so by the time I left, my swim suit would be dry.

Joey told me to go upstairs and find clothes to wear home (since I was too stupid to do so, and only wore a cover up over my bikini). he told me to find clothes from his room, because Sophia wouldn't believe him if he said I was the one in her room, and he never went in.

I looked through some stuff and threw on a pare of black Nike joggers. They had long strings, so I could tie them as tight as I needed for them to fit and not fall down when I walked. I then grabbed that white 'SLAYER' tee shirt he wears 24/7.

I was going down the stairs, when all of a sudden, something hit my side. I looked down and on the last step was a pair of denim shorts. Then I heard a chuckle. I looked over to see Joey coming towards me.

"Sorry babe, I thought you'd see 'em coming at you."

I just looked at him and playfully rolled my eyes. He then looked down at my legs.

"See, I KNEW you would grab those pants."

I chuckled, cause I DO really like them.

"But put those shorts on. It's 90 degrees out." He turned round and walked into the kitchen. I picked them up and I went back upstairs and changed my pants. I grabbed the wet bikini wrapped in a towel from the bathroom counter and carried it downstairs, forgetting that the joggers were still in my hands too. I went into the kitchen, about to go to the laundry room.

"Hey, what are you doin?" He asked, sitting at the island.
"I'm gonna put my swimsuit in the dryer."

"No, with my pants."

I looked down in my arms, realizing I was still holding them.

"Oh, I forgot I still had them."

He put his arms up, signaling to throw them to him because he had a mouthful of fruit loops. Cause he will eat cereal any time of the day.

So, I throw the joggers at him and he caught them. I then went around the corner into the laundry room and put both pieces into the dryer and started it. I've done lots of laundry at Joey's house, so I knew how to do it properly. Then I walked out and turned off the light, heading back to the kitchen.

"Damn babe, I need to get you a pair of your own! I'm not going to be able to untie this!"

"Ha, sorry Jo." I sat there for a moment. "Hey, uh, where's Tawny?"

"Oh, he's outside."

"How long?"
"About ten minutes?"

"He's probably fine." I walked across the room and looked out the glass door before opening it.

"Oh shit. Joey?"

"Yeah?"

"Someone's gonna need a bath."

Joey got up and stood next to me, looking where I was.

"Oh dammit."

I moved out of the way as he opened the door and went down the deck steps to grab the dog. He was digging in the dirt, and almost ruined the flowers.

He finally got him and carried him up the steps.

"Can you grab a towel please?"

"Yeah."

I grabbed one from the mud room and gave it to Joey. He wrapped Tawny in it and took him into the mud room. Right next to the washer, there was a bug sink. He put Tawny in there, and turned on the faucet. We started giving him a bath, using more and more soap as we went.

After about 20 minutes, he was as clean as he was going to get. Joey wrapped him in a new towel and started drying him off. At this point, I was in the kitchen texting my mom. She was about two minutes away. I went to grab my swim suit out of the dryer, and I see Joey in front of the washer, Tawny sitting on top of it, getting dried off.

"Hey, are you leaving?"
"Yeah, my mom's coming down the street now."
"Awh, no. Not yet!" He pleaded.
"I know, I'm sorry. I have to though. I have stuff to do tonight and tomorrow."

Then he looks at me like in the picture, and says "But the doggy doesn't want you to go, either."

Joey pouted, and then I started to. He was so damn cute. His hair laid perfectly on his head, and his eyes were so sharp. The colors of his swimsuit bottoms were light, and it made his tan more obvious, which made him even more attractive.

"I'm sorry Tawny, I want to stay longer, but I can't."
"But please???" Joey asks. And at that second, I hear a honk outside.
"Sorry, JoJo, but I have to leave."

He sighs, and puts down the towel. He hugs me tight. After we let go, he pecks my lips and says "I love you".
