Friday Night

The day I was suppose to be leaving to Rome with Apollo had arrived. I had told my mom it was a business trip and most of the other workers were tagging along and it was going to be great opportunity for me.

She happily agreed to let me go. As a matter of fact she didn't ask too many questions.

She just did not seem to care.

"H-hey mom, the car should be here at any moment." I smiled as I was dragging a fairly large suitcase behind me. Apollo did not tell me how much to pack and if there was a chance of me being away from here longer, I wanted to be prepared.

She was sitting on the couch with the remote in one hand and a sandwich in the other. "Oh yeah, bye enjoy."

I waited, just in case she wanted to add anything. She always seemed so out of it unless she was working.

Dragging my bag outside , it was raining fairly hard but I just thought at least if I started to cry it would be hard to tell.

Sitting on my porch waiting for Apollo's shiny white car to pull up or his limo almost felt like forever.

As I expected though, he drove himself. He wanted us to be able to go undetected and getting driven by his driver was not the best way to go.

I liked the feeling of this being done at night. It was like two love birds trying to slip away before they were taken away from each other out own remake of Romeo and Juliet.

Hopefully we don't end up dead.

Apollo pulled his car to the side of the road, when he stepped out he was wearing a pair of black slacks and a north face sweater.

"It's really coming down." I smiled, trying to wash the sad feeling away.

He approached me holding an umbrella over his head, he offered me the umbrella and took my bag.

"The perfect over up to slip away." Apollo lead me to his car, getting everything situated before the two of us drove off.

"What's wrong?"

"Hmmm?" I questioned keeping my eyes forward.

"What's wrong with you?" He asks again. "Your eyes are red.. have you been crying ?"

"More like trying not to cry.." I spoke in a low tone. "I just told my mom I was going to Rome and she didn't even seem to care I was leaving."

Apollo didn't say anything for a moment as he continued to drive down the wet slippery road. "My father, like your mom has been busy with his work ever since I was young and all the good grades I've gotten and even now all the deals I close he still doesn't seem to care.. I know he's proud just like your mom is proud of you."

"What?"

"You wanted a big reaction right ? To good news but I'm sure you've done nothing but tell her good news she doesn't expect anything but great things from you."

I took his last few words in to consideration as my sadness seemed to wash away.

"Now, like I stated before... I would like to enjoy our time in Rome, you don't think about anything or anyone else and I will do the same."

I nodded in agreement as the long car ride continued.

As we finally arrived at the airport. He drove towards the back of the large building heading towards a small post where a fairly tall gentlemen stood.

"Mr. Trevino!" The man greeted Apollo with a harsh Chicago accent. "You can just head on back."

"Isn't it annoying being so well known?" I questioned "there is nothing I love more than privacy."
