Chapter 3: New Beginnings

A week later from moving back to this town and lucky me I had no encounter with Kayla's brother. Which is weird, I thought that the future alpha might want to pass by and welcome again new pack members, maybe I am wrong, but then again it is not that I care what he does, it just goes against basic pack protocol.

"Alex dear, Kayla is here." Mom yelled from downstairs.

"Coming." I answered as I finished packing my purse with my wallet, phone, chapstick and a swiss army knife for precaution. As I about to grab my jacket Kayla entered my room.

"Hey Kay! I am ready to go." I said as I turned around. Kayla was wearing a skater cut floral dress with white converse and very light makeup. You could said that she was her mother's daughter as she always looked beautiful dressed just like that.

"Wow, look at you Alex, all sexy and stuff." Kayla said with a smirk on her lips.

"I beg your pardon." I said with a confused look on my face. I was confused as of what she called sexy. I was just wearing black shorts with a loose white camisole, a red flannel and black converse. Which was a basic everyday look for me.

"Oh, so you are not trying to impress Aaron?" She answered with an raised eyebrow.

"Aaron, as in your brother friends Aaron? God no!, why would you ever think that I would dress for him." I said while I looked at her with an incredulous face.

"Because he can't stop talking about you, he likes you. And I personally think that you would make an adorable couple. Plus we are meeting him at the movies today." She said while smiling. I met Aaron about three days ago in the mall with Kayla, he was a nice guy, sandy blonde hair and blue eyes, with a tall muscular body accompanied with goofy attitude. We clicked immediately not like mates but like getting along type of clicked. Which made me wonder how he became friends with Kayla's brother.

"Please, he is a nice guy but do not like him like that. And for future reference I will never dress for a man, I dress for myself. Now lets go before I have to endure a whining Aaron for getting late to the movies." I said as I grabbed Kayla's arm and dragged her out of the house to the movies. We got there three minutes before the movie started which is awesome because it meant Aaron couldn't complain about us being late since we technically weren't. But being almost late meant that Aaron choosed the movie. So we ended up watching a stupid horror movie. There are already so many horrible things happening around the world, the movie only reminded me of more moments like those. The supernatural world can be quite scary and life threatening in a daily basis depending on your job description.

"So, Alex, did you like the movie?" Aaron asked as we left the movie theatre.

"It wasn't bad, but it really wasn't my cup of tea." I said. His face slowly turned. I guess he was expecting me to love it but I simply could not stand this type of films. Kayla allowed a small giggle to escape her lips as she watched the interaction between us. "What! stop making that face, don't tell me this is the first time someone did not like your pick in movies?" I said. With disbelief on my face.

"Actually Alex, this is the first time a girl disagrees on his taste in movies, my brother was the first person to ever tell him he didn't like them. I believe that is reason he didn't came with us today." Kayla spoke with a very serious face. I couldn't tell if this was a joke or not.

"Oh, okay then, I guess I am crossing a new frontier." I said as I headed in the direction of my car.

"So, you guys are hungry? Because I know a pizza place with the best pizza in town." Aaron said as he and Kayla joined me.

"Lead the way." I said grabbing Kayla's arm. Wolves have always an appetite, especially with all the shifting and running, we tend to burn a lot of calories. The pizza place was a couple minutes away. The night was nice, it was breezy and summery night, with the unfortunate outcome of school tomorrow.

"So are you excited for your first day of school?" Aaron asked after the waitress took our order.

"Nope. Who could possibly be excited to go back to school and even worst start completely over?" I answered.

"True!" Kayla laughed. "Oh, by the way, some rules to follow to avoid trouble. First, steer clear of Clara Jones and her click, which now that I think about it, it shouldn't be hard since you guys are polar opposites. Second, as you know we normally don't socialize with non-supernats, but that shouldn't be a problem considering we hang in different social groups. And third and last but not least try to skip school as least as possible, I don't know how it was at your old school but here wolf or not you get suspended, only Nick could get away with that.

"Okay" I said, processing all the information given to me. " Why should I stay away from Clara? I thought you guys were still friends, I mean, we used to be."

"Well , yeah, that was before she started to date Nick thinking she was his mate." Aaron said. "That wasn't the case, when the mating festival happened, well there was no connection and Nick broke things off with her, and let's just say she wasn't happy. She started to be mean to Kayla and me, but surprisingly she is still in love with Nick and is trying to get him back."

"Wow" I said " No offense but isn't being a class A bitch to the sister and best friend of the guy you are trying to get back with kind of stupid? I mean she would have more of a chance if she just kept being friendly to you guys."

"Yeah, right, Clara has been in love with Nick since before you left. Why do you think she became friends with us and laughed at the mean pranks he did on you? She has been faking it long enough." Kayla scoffed as she finished her pizza. After that small conversation the night went uneventful, there was a lot of joking around and eating. However Kayla's comment kept bothering me, which is why I was now laying on my bed staring at the ceiling. I mean I knew she was right but I really thought Clara was my friend. With that in mind I turned lights off and tried to get some sleep because I am positive it is going to be a long day.
