Separated

Hey I'm from Texas!

I'm still sitting in the chair Daniel placed me in when the five boys come backstage to see me.

"So, what'd they say? Are you alright?" Daniel asks.

"Yes I'm fine, they said I probably just irritated the tendons, they're pretty weak since I've already injured that knee."

"How did you injure it?" Zach questions.

I set my gaze on the grey flooring, it's not really something I like to think about.

"Well," I start, nervously, "I was a Gymnast for 7 years, and I loved it more than anything else, but at a meet last December, I attempted my Ariel round off double full. I landed it, but I tore my ACL in the process. So I probably won't be able to do gymnastics again."

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," Corbyn says sympathetically.

I smile, "thank you, but it's really not a big deal. I'm really sorry for interrupting your meet and greet."

"Oh please, don't be sorry," Zach says.

"Yea, we'd do anything for a fan," the tall one adds, I'm pretty sure his name is Jonah... Or Jack?

Gosh now I wish I had actually listened when Vanessa rambled about them.

I smile, wishing I could tell Zach that I was his sister, but he'd never believe me.

"Thank you so much, you guys are so nice," I say, fighting the urge to explain everything to Zach.

"No problem," said a smiley Daniel, "we do have to go though, do you have a way to get home?"

"Yes, actually I live in Texas, I'll probably just take an Uber to my hotel," I laugh.

"Hey I'm from Texas!" Zach says with a goofy smile on his face.

All I could do was giggle as I walk out to the busy street and call an uber. While waiting for my ride, I check my phone and see that I have seven missed calls from my mom.

"Crap. Crap. Crap." I say to myself as I instantly call her back, "I'm so dead, she probably has a full search party looking for me by now."

She picks up the phone after two rings, "EVERLEIGH! Why haven't you answered any of my calls?!"

"I'm so sorry mommy, I'm on my way home now."

"What took so long?!"

"Well, I got pushed over and irritated my ACL," I say as I enter the uber, and give the driver the name of my hotel.

"Evie, you have to be careful"

"I know, I know, I'm really sorry. I met the boys though! They're all so nice, especially Zach and Daniel"

"Aww honey, I'm so glad"

"Me too! Daniel even carried me to the paramedics when I hurt my knee"

"That's great"

"I know! Ok mommy, I'm almost home, see you in a few minutes"

"Ok see ya"
