I wake up in my bed.

"Hey sweetie. You're dads waiting for you at the trading center." My mom, Andrea says as I sit up on the couch.

"What?" I ask her as I look around.

"It's Carl's 13th birthday remember?" My mom says in a duh tone.

I shake my head.

"Uh yeah." I say.

"Look, I know Lori doesn't like you much, but Carl is your brother & Rick is your daddy, so don't let her get to you." She says with that perfect smile she has.

"Alright mom." I say as I get up.

"Bye sweetie. I love you." She calls out.

"By mom, love you." I call to her as I leave the flat.

I walk down the hall & toward the trading post.

I see a boy just a few years older than me with his mom & a little girl, who looks about five.

I knew right away what this was.

A guard came towards them, I rushed over there.

I knew they were from Walden, I was from Phoenix.

"Hey there little girl, how'd you get over here?" I ask her.

Her mom & brother look at me with confused-sad eyes.

The guard start to talk, but I do first.

"I told her parents I would watch her, she got away from me." I tell the guard.

"Name please." The guard asks.

"Taya Layne. 181 Phoenix." I reply.

The guard nods & I pick up the little girl & carry her to my flat.

Luckily my mom had just left for work.

I knew this was an illegal child.

I would be, but my mom was smart & hid who my dad was well.

"Stay in here. There's a few toys in there, keep the door locked until you hear me. Ok?" I tell the child as I put her in my closet.

She nods.

"I'm Octavia Blake." She says.

I smile & nods.

I rush back to the trading post & hang out with my dad & brother & Lori.

An hour later I go to Walden & try to find the Blake's flat.

I finally find it & I knock on the door the boy opens it.

He quickly pulls me inside.

"Where's my sister?" He asks in an angry tone.

His mother steps into the room.

"Octavia's in my flat, hidden in my closet." I assure him.

"Thank you for that." His mom says.

I nod.

"How'd you know?" She asks me.

I hesitate, but answer.

"I'm an illegal child as well. The Ark just doesn't know it, mainly cause I'm my mom's only child." I explain.

"So your dad has an older child?" The woman asks.

"Yes. My brother just turned 13 today, I turn 13 next month." I reply.

"So your mother did a very good job at hiding who your dad is?" The woman asks.

"Mhm." I say.

"I'm Aurora Blake. This is my son Bellamy. Thank you again for what you did today." The woman says.

I nod.

"I'll bring her home tomorrow." I say.

Aurora nods.

Bellamy glares at me.

"I promise." I say to him.
