Chapter 1: My New Neighbor

Rinnngggg!

Yes! School is done for the day! Now I get to go home, eat and sleep.

"Hey, Kenz! Wait up," A familiar voice behind me calls out.

Great. People.

"What's up, Addie?"

"I was wondering if you were going to Max's party tonight, though I think I already know the answer," my friend Addie says before sighing and waiting for me to answer.

"Nope," I say, popping the 'p'.

"Come on Kenz! Let go a little and go to the party! It will be fun," she says shaking my arms.

Ow. Why does she have to be so dang rough with my arms? She is throwing my arms around like she is the freaking hulk jeez!

"No Addie, I do not want to go to a party where everyone is either high, drunk, horny or all three of those options," I say as I walk towards my car.

Addie follows me and I hear her sigh and nod her head. "Yeah, I get that, but at least go to one party. If you do not have fun within the first 5 minutes, I will drive you home and never ask you to go to another party again." She says and makes puppy dog eyes.

I hate those puppy dog eyes. She is so going to pay for this. "Ugh. I will go but only if my parents allow me. You know how strict they are," I say with a little bit of annoyance in my voice.

"Yay! Text me if they say yes," she says before running off towards her car.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," I roll my eyes jokingly.

"Love ya," she yells as she waves and enters her car.

"Love you too," I say waving and entering my own car.

I live about 10 minutes away from the school, so thankfully I do not have to drive far.

Once I get home, I park my car by the sidewalk. I grab my book bag and my keys and head towards the door. Before I can even unlock it, the door launches open.

Holy---

"Mackenzie! I need your help," my mother says as she pulls me by the arm into the house.

Why is it always my arms? Can't people just leave me alone and let me continue to live my lonely life?

"What do you need help with?"

"You dad will be home soon and since it is our anniversary, I wanted to make him his favorite dessert, strawberry shortcakes with a bunch of whipped cream," she says frantically.

"Ok, so why do you need my help," I ask.

Strawberry shortcakes are probably the easiest dessert to make, so why does she need me to help her?
