The panicked, booming barks of the varied selection of dogs echoed through the shiny white room, piercing through the ears of those who were resting or only just awakening. The distressed sounds bounced off of the shiny, pearl-white walls, creating a space no sane person would even think twice about entering, especially not someone of this date and time. The plain white quartz walls, ceilings, and floor had been scrubbed and bleached to perfection, giving the illusion that the room was glowing. The smell of cleansing chemicals was powerful enough to make your head ache. The massive space had been separated into several smaller gleaming chambers, the only way of entry was a large glass opening, completely exposing whatever or whoever would be housed inside. The only entrance or exit out of that room completely was a steel door with a card scanner to the right. The only entry was by those who were permitted to with special cards, and they never stayed for long. There were quite a lot smaller chambers in several rows inside of the large space, and as of just the night before, many were full of canines.

A female german shepherd with pale fur occupied one of the last chambers, being a new arrival from the night before. The majority of her coat was a quite quite light tan colour, with black on her ears, the back of her neck, in the saddle style down her back and down to the tip of her tail. She had large, caramel-coloured ears, and there was a small nick in her left. She twitched in her sleep, her paws giving small, jerky movements. She had been unconscious since she had arrived, and she could remember nothing about the journey to this place. Her golden brown eyes blinked open briefly, only to close for a few more moments before they briskly flashed open again. Panic rushed through her as she jumped to her paws, her black nails skidding on the slippery floors. Her gaze scanned the room rapidly in confusion, having no idea of how she got there or why.

What is this place?

The female, named Keesha, thought to herself. She suddenly became aware of an uncomfortable tight feeling around her throat and tried to scratch it off with her hind leg. She realized that it was a small metallic collar, fastened tightly so it wouldn't slip off. She growled to herself slightly and her pointed ears pricked out towards the small hallway between the many cells. She could hear the strained barking of other dogs, trying to make themselves be heard over the voices of each other. Keesha could tell most of the barks were out of fear rather than anger. She couldn't help but feel a tad bit uneasy herself, knowing fully well she'd never admit that to anyone. Thrown into random unfamiliar cells, the air holding the stench of sterilizing chemicals, unknown dogs surroundings all sides of you, it definitely wasn't paradise. Especially to an individual who had the urge to fight most dogs and completely avoid humans, but not any humans were seen so far. She couldn't say the same for dogs. She crept closer to the opening of her cell, and she saw the thick layer of glassing blocking her from accessing the outside of her kennel. Though it kept the chances of escape impossible, it still allowed vision of other dogs and activity past the barrier. The loud bang of the steel door opening interrupted the panicked barking of the dogs, and Keesha flattened her ears as she saw two men walk in, dressed in blue and wearing a white cap, as well as a white face mask covering half of their faces. She had never had good experiences with humans, and men in particular she disliked. She heard their muffled voices beneath their masks as they opened a portion of the glass entrance and stepped into the cell next to hers. She knew they would approach her next, and that was definitely not ideal for her. Her deep brown gaze dashed around the cell, looking for any other potential method of escape. To her dismay but not to her surprise, there was none other but the glass opening, which she could now see the men in front of. Keesha's hackles immediately rose, and she bared her sharp teeth as she took a few steps backward. They pushed open the glass opening and stepped in. One of the men stayed back, his unfriendly eyes focused on her like a hawk. He grasped a brown clipboard in one hand while the other man approached her from the side while Keesha's attention was on the other man. She whipped around as he got closer, and he outstretched a hand. Keesha snarled a warning before he got too close, and then she suddenly jolted forward with her jaws gaped, and a loud snap rang in the air as her jaws audibly collided just centimetres from his hand. He yanked his hand back with an expression that showed surprise, but that quickly changed as he let out a laugh and walked back to the other human, who was scribbling at his clipboard. She emitted a low growl from deep in her throat as she watched them leave, the glass door closing behind them. Keesha stayed behind a few moments, making sure the men would not return. Her muscles were tensed as she stared out the glass door, and then she realized that they were gone. For now, at least.
