Link x Hunter (Legend of Zelda/Left 4 Dead crossover)

Ch 7 (Miracle's POV)

I honestly didn't know why I was helping Link get to a safe zone. I thought my instincts would've taken over when I first met him in the safe room I died and changed in. I thought I would've killed him and made him a meal. But I didn't. Something inside me... My humanity told me to help him through this. It told me to be his friend, his protector, his loyal compainion. Just like I was to my group before I got infected. I sure do miss those guys. I wonder how they're doing. Did they make it to a safe zone? Link pulled me out of my thoughts by tapping my shoulder. Man I really wish I could talk. I looked at him from under my hood and tilted my head a little.

    "It's getting dark. I don't see a safe room anywhere." he said. He was still learning how to find safe rooms that are out in the open country. We had made it out if the city a few days ago. I sighed and scanned around. Sure enough he was right. There wasn't a building of any kind in sight. I faceplamed and growled. We would have to set up a small camp in the woods to be hidden, but my 'brothers', aka other hunters would be there. But since we can't camp out in the open there was no other choice. I lead Link off the road and into the woods. We didn't go that far in when I found an abandoned wolf den near a crystal clear creek. I fist pumped the air and let out an excited squeal that sounded like a happy kitten or something. Link looked at me as if I was crazy and I pointed to the wolf den. He smiled and went straight in, me trailing behind him. He set up his sleeping bag and flopped down on it exhausted. I couldn't blame him. We've been walking all day since pretty much the butt crack of dawn. I'm exhausted myself. I'm glad we found this wolf den. It's well hidden and the strong scent of plants that surrounded it covered up Link's scent and mine. So if any infected comes by here special or not they won't even notice us. A lucky break. But winter was coming fast and it was getting cold. I wasn't bothered by the cold because I'm a walking heater. A trait I've had all my life even way before I got infected. But Link wasn't like me and the cold was getting to him. We did find him winter clothing, but it wasn't really enough. I didn't want him getting sick. That would put both of us at a major disagvantage and would extend our trip to the safe zone by only god knows how long. I knew it was gonna be freezing tonight and I was worried Link would get sick. So I did somsthing I did with my group whenever one of them was sick and they were cold because of their fever. Link didn't like actually getting into his sleeping bag so he just lied on top of it. I crawled over to him. He was shivering and I could clearly hear him chattering his teeth. He had his arms around himself trying to keep warm. I huffed like a child for no particular reason and crawled into his arms. He stopped shivering immidiately holding me a little tighter pulling me more against him. His teeth stopped chattering too. I smiled that he wasn't cold anymore. I was use to this kind of contact because I did it a lot with my group whenever they got sick. It was the same for me whenever I got sick. Having a lot of body heat has been useful. And this is no different. I noticed my hood had gotten knocked off when I crawled into Link's arms. I didn't really care. I think Link preferred me to have my hood off anyway. Whenever I would have it on he would kinda complain about how I hid my face. I would laugh at this, but he did have a point. Why did I always hide my face? I know I'm a hunter... The only girl hunter at that. But unlike my 'brothers' I didn't claw out my eyes. So why did I hide my face like the others? There wasn't really any reason to. I noticed Link was fast asleep still holding onto me. Not like I planned on moving away from him anyway. I wasn't gonna risk him getting sick. Plus I'm always willing to share my excessive body heat. So really it's a win-win situation. I fell asleep right there in Link's arms keeping him nice and warm.
