I was laying with Ashlen and watching tv when I realized something. I needed to find a bass player!
"Oh shit!" I said while popping up. Ashlen jumped and looked at me with confusion in her eyes. "What's wrong baby?"
"We dont have a bass player anymore! I need to find one some how. But I don't even know HOW because our next concert is tomorrow. Oh god what am I gonna do?!" I answered while pulling up the door. I was about to walk out when Ashlen grabbed my arm. Her touch gave me chills. I looked back at her.
"Don't sweat it. I can play bass for you. I know all of the songs." she said in a soothing voice while smiling at me. Is there anything this amazing girl CAN'T do?
"Awesome! But wait, we still have to buy you a bass guitar." I said while walking out of the room. The first person I saw was Kris on his bunk playing cards with Mikey.
"Hey bro. So what are we gonna do about-" "I'm playing." Ashlen interrupted.
"Alright!" shouted Mikey. Him and Ashlen became really good friends. She talked to him a lot. I wasn't jealous or anything though. I knew he wouldn't try anything with her. I walked up to the front of the bus.
"Hey Kelly can we stop at the closest mall? A certain someone needs a makeover," I whispered while looking back at Ashlen with a smile. She didn't hear us though.
"You sure that's a good idea considering what just happened?" she questioned. She was starting to get really annoyed with me, I could tell.
"It's fine. We'll be low key this time. Plus we won't have a killjoy yelling at us and giving us away." I muttered. She just rolled her eyes. "Yeah ok. Just hurry up." she said while pulling over.
"Where are we?" I asked her. I could tell we were in the country.
"We're in Elizabethtown!" I heard Ashlen shout. I looked over at her and she had her face glued to the window with a huge smile. "This is where I live. Are we stopping at the mall??" She was so excited. It brought a smile to my face too.
"Yeah we are. You can show us where the music store is. And we'll buy you some new cloths and make up. " I said while smiling at her.
She ran into the mall and looked all around. She was so happy here. At her real home. "Buddy Ringos is this way," she shouted back at us while heading straight. We were almost in the store when I heard a streak and laughter. My head shot over to Ash. She was talking to some girl. I walked closer and put my arm around her. She smiled up at me.
"Kayla this is A-" she stopped and looked up at me as if asking for permission. I nodded my head. And she smiled back at me.
"Kayla this is my boyfriend Alex Price. But don't scream! Or say anything! We gotta stay low." Ashlen said with pride. It made me feel great. She said it as if she was proud of herself. I knew she loved me but that made it even clearer. I looked over at Kayla who was just standing there with her jaw to the floor.
I pulled my sunglasses down and looked at her in the eyes. "Hi. Nice ta meet ya," I said with a chuckle while extending my hand. She didn't even look at it. She just smiled and hugged me tight. Me and Ashlen started laughing.
"I can't believe this," Kayla said while backing up. "Shouldn't you be on tour?"
"Yeah but we needed to stop and pick up a bass for Ashlen. She's gonna play for us." I said with a smile. Kayla didn't even look at Ash.
"Yeah yeah that's cool, so do you guys mind if I... You know... Tag along?" she asked with anticipation. I could tell Ashlen was getting mad. I looked around for Mikey and Kris. They had already went into the store and bought a bass for Ash. I saw Mikey's face light up when he looked at Kayla. Oh brother....
"Well who is this?" asked Mikey. He had a huge smile on his face. I could already tell he was into her. I looked over at her. She didn't even hear him. And she wouldn't take her eyes off me. It was kinda creepy.
"Uh her name is Kayla. She's Ashlens friend. She wants to tour with us." I answered. Finally she snapped out of whatever kind of trance she was in and looked at Mikey. She gave out a quick one second smile then turned to Ashlen.
"I mean wouldn't it be great? Me and you could be together! On tour with The Wing Rippers!" she said eagerly to Ash.
"Yeah I guess it would be kinda cool..." Ashlen replied with hesitation.
"Well I say we let her!" shouted Mikey from behind. "Parties are always better with more people!"
Everyone turned to me...
"Um.... Sure why not?" I said with a blank expression. But for some reason.... I could feel I had just made a huge mistake.
