Grace then turns her head towards me. "You pushed me out of the window, Jay."
"N-no I didn't Grace. Don't you remember?" I tried to stay calm as I asked. Grace slowly shook her head yes.
"Then you remember that Alice pushed you don't you?" I hesitantly asked the six year old. "No." She answered and narrowed her light colored eyebrows.
"What do you remember then?" I asked, growing irritated. Grace took a deep breath and rubbed her eyes. "You -you got me out of bed and made me close my eyes." She says and tries to catch her breath.
"Hey, calm down, take your time. Speak slowly." I urged her.
"Then you made me stand by the window.." She added. "And then?" I urged once more. Gabriel continued to listen.
"...And then you pushed me." She finishes, giving me a cold look.
"No I didn't!" I shouted and slammed my hand on the mattress. "You and I both know that Alice pushed you out of that window Grace! I didn't touch you!" I added.
"Jacqueline, calm down." Gabriel ordered and walked towards me. Grace started to cough once more. "I snapped myself out of my angered state and realized I was arguing with an injured six year old.
"I'm sorry Grace." I sighed. "I swear I didn't push you. Do you understand?"
She just glared at me and turned to face the other way on her bed, away from Gabe and I. "Maybe we should just leave. She's upset and tired Jacqueline." Gabe suggests and walks back to the door.
"Is there a problem here?" A male nurse with an extremely deep voice walks in and asks, eyeing Gabriel and I.
"We were just leaving." Gabe responds and looks at me to follow him out.
"She thinks I really pushed her." I flatly say as I am standing over her bed still in shock. Not caring if that nurse is here.
"What did she say?" The nurse looks to Gabe. "Nothing." Gabriel snaps at him and grabs my hand, escorting me out of the hospital.
As he leads me to his car, his hand still holding mine. I feel tears roll down my cheeks. "She hates me Gabe. She really believes I pushed her out of that window." I say as I lean against his sports car.
"Hey, don't beat yourself up about it. She's just as confused as everyone else about this." He lets go of my hand and places his own on my shoulder.
"Everything is going to be okay." He adds, his blue eyes staring into my hazel ones. "How are you so sure?" I wipe a tear away.
He gives me a devious smile. "C'mon get in." Is all he says as he jumps into the drivers seat. "Where are we going?" I ask as I buckle my seat belt.
"Your house."
----
We make our way to my empty house and pull into the driveway. "Why did you want to come here?" I raise an eyebrow. Gabe gets out of the car and goes to the trunk, which is located in the front of the car.
"To visit Alice of course." He smirks as he pulls out a large baseball bat. "You keep a bat in your car?" I laugh and grab my house key.
"Doesn't everyone?" He responds. I open the front door and drop my keys onto the hallway table.
"I haven't actually seen that doll since the incident." I admit and plop down on the couch.
"It has to be here. Where else could it go?" He asks as he looks around the living room. I shrug my shoukders in response. "I don't know, I just hate that thing."
