Chapter Nineteen
Ariella’s POV
I was tackled by a ball of curly hair and almost fell in the floor. Soon after, hoards of other people surrounded me. They all pulled at my clothes and clutched me. I panicked and looked around to find Niall. He turned out to be right by my side. I moved away from the crowd and he placed his hand firmly around my waist.
“Ariella’s just fine, guys. She’s just a little uncomfortable,” Niall announced.
As I analyzed each person’s features, I realized that they were the same people I had to leave so long ago. I recognized Danielle, Eleanor, Nicki, Sally, Anne, Edward, Christian, Gemma, and even James and Delilah. Tears stung my eyes as I blinked repetitively. This was so much to take in.
“Hey,” I squeaked.
Everyone in the room looked like they were going to break down. I didn’t know what to do. I started with simply giving everyone a hug. It took a while. By the time I got to James and Delilah, they were both sobbing. I pulled them both into a hug and we just cried together. Though no words were spoken, I understood exactly what they wanted to say to me. Silence was their loudest cry.
When I pulled away, I simply smiled. I sat on the couch and everyone surrounded me and bombarded me with questions.
“Who did you live with?”
“Why did the FBI have to take you?”
“Was there some sort of FBI scandal happening?”
“Please stop guys. Ask one at a time. You’re starting to sound like the paparazzi,” I said.
I took in a deep breath and began to explain things.
“I lived with a woman named Emory. The FBI took me because there was a man named Darrin Michelson who said my life would be at risk. There actually was a possibility of that, but he just did it to get revenge,” I said in one breath.
The room was silent.
No one asked any more questions. The whole night was spent reminiscing with the people I cherished the most.
Unfortunately, everyone had to leave. It was nearly three in the morning and people were still filing out of the door. Before James and Delilah left, they stopped and embraced me one last time.
“I knew he’d find you,” Delilah whispered, “James found me.”
