I took in a gasping breath and sat straight up.
"Welcome back to Earth." Daniel said sitting in front of me.
I grunted and stood up.
"Why are you still here? It's probably really late now." I muttered.
"I'm not leaving you here."
I look down at his lips as he stood up so close to me.
Is he going to kiss me?
"If someone saw you like that they'd probably tell someone. Then we'd have a whole other problem." He turned away from my lips and left the closet.
I sighed alone in the janitor closet.
~~~
I looked at the plate with zero interest.
Typically I was always hungry. But not tonight.
I didn't really care if I ate or not though. It didn't matter.
All day I'd had a weird feeling like I needed to be somewhere, but I couldn't figure out where.
Maybe a walk in the cool night air would help.
I excused myself from the table and left my dorm.
I walked for awhile, my hoodie up and my eyes on the ground.
Find him.
Ork.
I said find him.
Who?
Your enemy.
Enemy?
Follow.
In front of me a path of light began to form.
I looked at it with shock before I quickly began to run, following the path.
I ran for a long time before it ended and I slowed down.
Then I saw him.
Jonah.
He was sitting on a bench on his phone.
Kill him.
What?! No! He is mean but I'm not gonna kill him-
Fine. We'll do this the hard way.
I gasped as I saw myself start moving towards him.
He's controlling my body!
"Stop! Stop! I never agreed to this!" I screamed.
My body jumped on top of Jonah and he screamed, falling off the bench. I plopped down with him stabbing him with my sharp nails and his chest began bleeding. I bit into his leg pulling out a huge chuck of it making blood gush out.
He screamed louder than I think anyone has ever screamed and I tried to fight against Ork's control.
"STOP!" I screamed but my body picked up Jonah and threw him all the way across the park and he hit into a building, splattering blood everywhere, and flopped to the ground, not moving.
Maybe next time you will work with me.
"Work with you?" I screamed. "I don't want to have anything to do with you! Get out of my head!"
"Don't try to fight him." I heard a voice behind me.
I turned around and saw a boy behind me.
"Who are you?" I Said quickly.
"I'm Zach." The boy answered.
"I've never seen you before."
"I don't go to this school. I don't need to. I've already gone to collage 5 times."
I tilted my head in confusion.
"I know Ork. He did the same thing to me. I'm immortal."
"There are other immortals?"
"Yup. Lots. We've learned how to fight off Ork though. And how to control him. So nothing like that happens." He pointed to Jonah's body. "It's ok though. I was like that at first."
"Can I save him?" I asked weakly.
He nodded.
I smiled in relief.
"Come. I'll teach you."
He knelt down next to Jonah and I knelt down next to him.
"Put your hands just above his chest, flat out just like this."
He position my hands above Jonah's body and nodded.
"Now close you eyes, and imagine his leg being restored and his cuts disappearing."
I did what he said and opened my eyes again after, surprised to see the wounds were gone.
"How di-" I started.
"Shh. He's not alive yet." He interrupted me. "Now imagine his blood flowing again and his heart beating."
I closed my eyes again and imagined what he had told me.
I opened my eyes and Jonah took in a gasping breath.
"I'll see you later." Zach said. "He won't remember what happened."
"Wait but-" I tried.
"I'll come back when you need help again. You know enough for today."
Then he disappeared.
For today?
