Warning: this chapter will have some violence.
"Huh? Who is that?" Tom yelled as he stepped in front of you.
"It was Alyssa's brother," you stammer as you back against the wall.
Tom slams a hand next to your head, making you duck away from him. "Her brother? You don't even know an Alyssa! Do you ever stop lying?"
"Stop! Just let me explain!" You yell at him as you slide down the wall.
"There's nothing to explain! You're cheating on me you whore!" Tom raised his hand to hit you but you block it with both hands, causing your phone to skid across the floor. You crawl away to get it and it starts to ring. You and Tom both read the name. "Alyssa". He talked a quick step and snatched it from your reach.
Tom beats you to it and answers it. "Hello Alyssa. This is Tom, your friends boyfriend. She's in the bathroom right now," he says with a smirk on his face.
"Stop! Give my phone back!" You yell as you stand up to face Tom. He pushes you back and you hit the wall. You let out a yelp as Tom starts to walk away.
"Sorry Alyssa, but now is not a good time," he continues as you start towards him. He turns to see you grasping for your phone. "Get off of me bitch!" He tries to push you again but you retaliate this time.
"Jeffrey! Help me!" You cry as you push back, knowing he'd hear you.
"Oh so you are cheating!" Tom declares with a wide grin. Before you can think, he slaps his hand across your face, the sound ringing through the room.
You fall to the ground and your hand goes up to your stinging cheek. Your mouth agape in disbelief. After all these years of being an asshole and pushing you around, he never once hit you and left a mark.
You stood back up in anger, a scowl adorning your face, your fists clenching into a ball.
"You want some more sweetheart?" Tom chuckled, a malevolent feel about him.
Then you charged at for you door. He tried to block you but you used all your body strength to shove out of your way, making him fall into the wall. You pulled the door open to find headlights pulling into the drive way.
You go to make an escape but Tom grabs your hair. "No you don't," he growls as you pulls you back inside. You trip on the door frame and you fall, your head hitting the floor.
You cry out in pain as you try to sit up but everything goes blurry. Tom crawls on top of you and grabs your face harshly. "This is what you deserve," he spits out, his words like poison.
Suddenly Tom is slammed to the floor next you. "Get off of her." You look up to see a blurred image of a man. He grasps your left hand and pulls you up to him. "Are you okay?" He asks you.
"Kind of," you respond as you lean against him. "Thank you," you say as you look up at him. A ghost of a smile adorns his face.
"Who the fuck are you? Get out of my damn house!" Tom yells at Jeffrey as he stands up. Jeffrey holds you tighter and puts you to the side, protecting you.
"Right now? Her savior."
As if it were in slow motion, you look up at Jeffrey and his eyes were stern. At that moment, you knew he was different. And he would do anything for you.
However, your focus snaps away from your knight in shining army to the enemy that stood before you both. Tom yelled in anger as he swung at Jeffrey. Jeffrey dodges the punch and pushes Tom back.
Jeffrey holds you behind him, his arm against your back. His other arm up in a blocking position.
"Don't touch her. She's mine!" Tom charges again, this time getting a hit in. Jeffrey steps back and shakes his head.
"I don't think she likes being yours." Jeffrey responds as he blocks more hits. He glances back at you, telling you to run.
And you do. You race down the sidewalk and stop when you realize all your neighbors are outside, watching the scene.
"I'm going to kill you!" Tom screams as he chases Jeffrey down front steps. Jeffrey runs to the car, pulling out his keys.
Without any words said, you know to jump into the car. Jeffrey follows and doesn't waste time pulling out of the drive way. He speeds down the street, Toms obscenities barely heard over the roaring engine.
You watch out of the side mirror as Tom tries to run after you, until he's far behind you. Your eyes move to Jeffrey, his breathing heavy and blood tripping from his eyebrow.
"I'm so sorry," you tell him, tears starting to form in your eyes.
"Don't worry about me," he starts, glancing at you. "I'm just glad you're safe now."
He stopped at a red light and turns to you fully. His hand reaches up to your cheek, his thumb wiping a stray tear away. "Everything will be okay, don't cry."
Normally, someone telling you to not cry would make it hurt worse. But in this moment, it gave you hope. A small smile formed on your face as you nodded against his hand. Jeffrey smiled in return as his hand fell to yours. Your fingers intertwining.
When the light turned green, Jeffrey took his hand back to focus on the road. "Gus is going to be so happy to see you," he chuckles.
Well this was my bad attempt at an action scene. Oops.
