chapter 3 | movie night
''So, have you been talking to any ghosts lately?''Rolling her eyes for what felt like a hundredth time, Clary pressed her lips together to stop them from widening into a smile. Asking herself how many times would she have to tell her best friend that speaking to ghosts wasn't an ability that Banshees possessed, she quickly came to a conclusion he would never stop making fun of her. ''No, I haven't actually. But I'll let you know if you grandfather ever decides to pay me a visit.''
Paul chuckled lightly, wrapping his hand around her waist, he brought her closer to him. He remembered as she ran straight to him the minute she read the letter from her grandmother. She told him how Emily in her letter spoke about banshees, vampires, shape shifters and so much more. That was also the time he told her about him being able to change into a large wolf and the responsibility of protecting the town from those 'murderous bloodsuckers'. In Paul's eyes, it was a good day.
Leaning into him, Clary wrapped her arms around his neck for a quick hug before pulling back. She couldn't have wished for a better friend than Paul. He was the first person she talked to about her biological grandmother reaching out to her. He was also the first person she spoke to about supernatural stuff. Yeah, she was sure Paul was the 'till death do us apart ' type of friend.
''C'mon C, the boys are already here.'' He said before he started to drag her towards the small family house. That house she knew all too well. She's been spending her time there for long enough to memorize every single detail; from the trees around to the smallest cracks on the walls. For so long that she practically considered Blacks as her second family and their house as a second home. Family. Such a nice word...
After a few long steps, they found themselves facing the front door. Paul being the gentleman he is opened the door and mentioned his hand for her to come in first.
''Why thank you sir.'' Clary smirked and waltzed in, Paul being closely behind her. He mumbled 'no problemo' and shut the door behind them.
The sound of the door stopped Jacob and Embry from pushing each other around in order to get the last piece of the chicken that Clary brought earlier that day. They both froze in the pose they were in and turned their heads in Clary's and Paul's direction.
Thinking Embry was occupied enough, Jacob slowly brought his hand to his mouth. Opening his mouth, he was going to take a huge bite.
''Don't even think about it Jake.'' Clary gave him a nasty look; with her hands on her hips and her red hair all over the place cause of the wind, she pretty much looked like an enraged harpy from hell.
Jacob's eyes widened, that definitely didn't go as planned. He sighed defeated and put the chicken back onto the table.
''Seriously guys? The chicken was supposed to be for all of us!'' Clary exclaimed; she tried to sound upset, but the truth was that she did count on them to eat it. She knew her boys well. And that's why she made two extra portions; she still had no idea how they could eat as much as they did and never gain a pound. Fast metabolism, she supposed. Lucky bastards. She? Although she didn't eat as much as them, it was still more than most girls her age did. It didn't go without a catch though. If she wanted to keep the body she had, than gym and working out was a must. And so that's what she did.
''You're lucky I know you so well. I made some extra.'' With that said, she dipped her hand into her extra large handbag and pulled out two boxes of spiced chicken and garlic sauce.
Jacob's, Embry's and Paul's eyes were big as sausages, when they saw all the food Clary brought.
No matter how crazy it may sound, Embry was actually the one who recollected himself first. ''Okay, movie night time.''
