Ruby's Journey

The Slaves

Two days had pasted since Ruby and Ruby had first come into a nice lady's store, it was
mid-afternoon and the twins were gathering their stuff to set back off on their journey.
Rudy was in the back gathering their stuff while his sister was sitting on the bed next to the satchel.

"I miss mama & papa", Ruby said while looking down at the orb their father had given her to keep her hidden from the danger that would seek her.

"I know you do, I do too, Rub, but we can't change what happened, besides they sacrificed themselves to keep us out of danger, all we can do is stay strong", Rudy said as he picked up the satchel.

"Ready to get moving?" He said holding out his hand.

"Mhm!", She said jumping off the bed

He grabbed her hand and began to leave, on the way out they gave their last thank you to the nice lady that took care of them for a while.

They walked out to the edge of the village and hopped on the horse and started riding off into the forest.

A few hours had gone by and as they rode they ran into a grassy area full of flowers and noticed the there was a pond.

"Hey Rub, how bout we stay here for the night?" He turned around to see his sister had fallen asleep on the ride.

"Well, that explains to why she was silent, better set up camp since we're gonna stay" he said giving a slight chuck.

As he set up camp he saw a firefly appear and soon one firefly became many, he walked over to Ruby, woke her up, pulled her to her feet and dragged her over to the fireflies.

"What's going on?" She said rubbing one eye.

The next moment she saw the fireflies she ran around trying to catch them

He laughed and joined in the chase with her

After a while they got exhausted from running and laid on the ground looking at the stars

"Well-- that was fun" Rudy said outta breathe

"Y-Yea but it was worth it, phew" she said asking outta breathe.

They laid on the ground looking up at the stars.

"Their so beautiful!", Ruby said as she began to doze off.

"Yea, they really are", Rudy said the next moment looking at his sister noticing she fell back asleep.

"Heh, Nite Rub.", He said pulling her closer toward him so she wouldn't in any danger, and then he fell asleep.

*A few hours had passed and it was so early in the morning the sun hadn't even come up yet, As the twins slept soundly on the grass near the pond, the trees behind them began to shake but there was no wind*

"Huh?, what was that?" Rudy said silently as to not be heard from anyone lurking.

*The trees shook some more*

"Hmmm, I should check it out", he said putting a blanket to look like him while he silently crept to the trees and hid in the dark shadows to find out who may be watching them.

*He began to hear some small chatter coming from a few branches ahead and moved closer to the ones who were watching*

"Do you see them?" Said Unknown male voice.

"Yes, they're both asleep", Said Unknown female voice.

"Good, if the kids are sleeping then our master shall be pleased, Does he know where we are?" Said the Unknown Male.
