Getting to go on a joy ride with Snart, Mick and Jax was definitely not what you expected to be doing on your first 'official' mission with the Legends team, especially when it meant taking out the smaller ship from the waverider and landing close enough to your old house to bring back bad memories. This time Snart was in charge, much to Jax's dismay. It wasn't until Mick told us both what this day and this place meant to Snart that you understood why he was how he was and how he seemed to be kinder toward you. He had noticed the same mannerisms and behaviours in you that he saw in himself and his sister.

Once you had landed you followed Snart outside and confronted him. "Why didn't you just tell me that you knew what I was going through rather than making me feel like I was alone." You whisper shouted so as not to attract the attention of those with you and those in the house. "Because, your clever enough that I assumed you would have or did figure it out on your own." Snart wasn't a fan of talking about things, especially the past, and you knew that but you still felt like he had hidden something from you. Then he turned his back on you and headed for the house, you followed him, still mad.

"I cannot believe that you were both so reckless, so naïve! Actually, scratch that Mr Snart I can believe would do something like this, but you Y/N! You could have entirely destroyed yourself and Mr. Snart's futures!" Every word Rip was saying was like being 6 years old again, you kept bracing yourself for what was a routine next step, kept flinching each time you expected the hit to come. This was the behaviour that Snart referred to outside his childhood house. This was, without a doubt, the most annoyed and angry that either of you had seen Rip. When you flinched for what felt like the thousandth time Snart spoke up.

"Look Rip, we both know that this was clearly my ide-" Rip cut him off just by lifting his hand and glared at him.

"Oh, I'm sorry Mr Snart, I didn't realise that you dragged Miss Y/L/N, on a possible suicide mission! And then subsequently FORCED her to do what she did" The sarcasm was just dripping of the time travellers accent.

When you and Snart had entered his childhood house, it was eerily quiet. You had wondered why he brought the diamond he and Mick had just 'liberated' from a museum. Then you both heard a noise from behind you and Snart automatically raised his gun in the direction of the sound while you tensed ready to dodge or fight, that's when you saw the little boy in his long sleeved pj's. "Hi there" You dropped to the little boys eye level. "What's your name?" You looked at him and smiled while Snart lowered his gun and went to get a glass and fill it with water. "My name's Leo." The little boy held onto his teddy. "Hi Leo, I'm Y/F/N, what are you doing up at this time sweetie?" He looked between you and Snart before responding "I wanted a glass of water, do I know you?" before you had a chance to respond Snart spoke up "We're friends of your dad's kiddo. And I'm gonna give you some advice" Snart handed Leo the water and began to tell him to look out for himself in life and not let anyone make him feel weak and then you drowned them out as you let your eyes wander around the kitchen and then rest on little Leo. You still couldn't wrap your head around the fact that you were looking at Snart, child Snart.

It was the sound of a gun clicking as if it had just been loaded that brought your attention away from Leo. "Who are you?" A very drunken man was holding a gun to Snart's head. Leonard didn't seem too concerned though, he only turned to Leo and told him to go back to his room and not come back out, Leo walked back up the steps, glass of water in his hand.

"Not only did you interact with your childhood selves but you also risked changing the future of your past selves!"

Everything happened so fast, one minute there was a gun to Snart's head the next his father was pushed up against the wall with the cold gun pressed to his neck. Snart then put the diamond down and told his father that this was to prevent him from going to prison when he goes to steal it the following night. Then you two left but not before Snart threatened his father to never lay a hand on him or his sister. Despite Snart doing that, it appeared nothing about his past had changed, his dad still went to prison (for selling rather than stealing this time) and Snart and his family still went through the same cycle of abuse.

The sound of Rip grunting was what brought you out of your reverie, Snart had pinned him against the wall and was speaking very dangerously low in his ear "Look Rip, clearly you're scaring Y/N, so how about we drop it. I know that you know what she's been through and I know that you've been watching her flinch." Snart pushed back off Rip and offered his hand to you before taking you away from Rip.

"Snart! Where are you headed now?" You asked when he went in the complete different direction from the ship you had arrived in. That's when you saw the house he had turned and was running up the back steps of. You hadn't realised that you grew up living to close to Snart, it was literally 4-5 houses down. How did he know that? When you both arrived at the back door to the house you froze. Snart looked to you before entering and slowly encouraged you to go in with him. When you entered, there was 5-6year old you with a glass of water and your twin sister standing next to you, both of you standing close to each other with bruises on your arms.

Once Snart introduced himself and told them to go back to bed you breathed. You hadn't realised you had been holding your breath. Then your father came through the front door, drunk. You backed up until something hit your back and Snart used his arm to move you behind him. Then you heard your father knock a chair out of his way to get to Snart. Snart used your fathers momentum to force him onto the table and threatened him, almost the same way he threatened his own father, then he allowed your father to get up and take a drunken swing at him before laying him out. It wasn't until you got both got back to the Waverider and looked at the history that you both realised nothing had changed and that your fathers had actually been working together on that heist and were arrested together for the selling of the diamond.

When you finally stopped outside your room you turned to Snart. "Why? Why did you do that?" you asked Snart, tears threatening to spill over. "Do what?" Snart looked at you as though he was bored. "Everything, your dad, my dad, Rip." Snart just looked at you and steeled himself "Because I know how it feels and I wanted things to be different for us both." Then he turned and walked to his room.
