The Day My Mother Died, Changed My Life - Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten – Everything is going to be okay, maybe.  

-Josh’s point of view-

I Inhaled Corey’s smell as i rested my head on his shoulder, while he was cooking some bacon. He smelt like mint with a hint of that Linx spray thingy, he smelt good! I licked my lips and giggled to myself. I placed a quick kiss on his cheek and his lips curved, as smiled just a little. I could tell there was something wrong with him but i didn’t want to pry. He would tell me all in good time i didn’t want to pressure him into anything. I heard a chair been pulled across the floor and turned my head to see Katie, i shot her a smile and turned my head back to watch Corey cook.

“Josh stop distracting me and butter bread!” Corey’s voice made me jump a little, he sounded so... distant from everything. I sighed and stomped over towards the cupboards which the bread was kept, then i walked over to the fridge and grabbed the butter. How dare he snap at me like that? I can’t help he’s all moody and distant, i sighed again, I buttered enough bread for everyone god i hate buttering bread! I faintly heard Corey call the triplets for their food. They all took the three seats on the far left, me and Corey taking the seats next to Katie. Corey gave everyone there sandwiches and i sat there with my hands in my lap sulking. He thought he could just talk to me like crap and get away with it? Nuuhuh! He was going to get the silent treatment. I took hold of my sandwich and took a bite, and nom! Wasn’t it good, it tasted like fireworks... Wait that would be painful right? Oh well it still tasted like fireworks. I saw Corey give Katie her food last, with a little weird creepy look he gave people when he was suspicious. I also saw him give her a little nod, what was he up to? Corey continued to watch Katie as she picked her bacon sandwich up and take a small bite. I saw her quickly shake her head and stand up making her chain make a painful noise on the floor. She picked up her speed to the downstairs bathroom, what was wrong with her?  Maybe she just didn’t feel well. I looked across the table and all the triplets had a confused look on their faces, then i drifted my eyes to Corey’s direction and looked at him. His brows were pushed together he looked like he was about to cry, he quickly stood up following Katie. Just before he made it out of the room he adverted his gaze from following Katie to, towards me and gently smiled.

As soon as he left it was dead silence between the rest of the people at the table.

“W-What just happened Josh?” Lola’s voice broke on the first word she said, she sounded troubled and confused.

“I don’t know. Everything is going to be fine though kids, i promise” I quickly reached over the table and kissed all three of the triplets on the forehead.

I then stood up leaving the rest of my sandwich on the table, I’ve completely lost my appetite. 

I followed the faint voices i heard.

“You need help Katie, you may not think it but you do” Corey paused and then carried on with “I hoped you’d be able to just carry on. But you have a problem and you either need to get rid of it or..” He paused again, he said in more of a whisper “It’ll kill you” i heard faint sobs coming from the bathroom. I quickly picked up my walking speed and ran towards the bathroom. Bursting in i looked at Katie, who was on the floor with her head between her knees, her eyes all puffy and she looked ill. Not just sick ill, i mean like all of the life was drained out of her body. She had no.. spark no longer, it was like someone had just sucked out all of her soul and placed it into a jar in a far far away land that no one could rescue.

“E-explain! NOW!” I shouted. The only thing that was going through my head that Katie was pregnant. I replayed the things that backed up my theory in my head; Katie could eat food, Corey said that she needed help, and she needed to ‘get rid of it’ GET RID OF WHAT!?
