Chapter 12

-Julie's View

I heard the door slam and the door open back up and close again. I crawled out of the bed and walked into the hallway.

"Chance!" I yelled.

I walked into the living room to not see him so I walked around searching for him. I looked upstairs and downstairs.

"Chance!" I yelled again. "Maybe he's outside."

I opened the front door to see Donald sitting on the grass. I closed the door behind me and walked out there.

"Donald, your home." I said tapping his back as he turned around.

"Oh hey. Yeah." He said.

"Where's Chance?" I asked.

"He went home."

"Where's Ana?" I asked.

"She went away for a bit."

"Is that why you sad? You don't have to lie." I said sitting down next to him.

"Julie, no offense but when your grown you'll understand."

"I understand." I said frowning.

He looked at me and placed his hand on my shoulder.

"So you have fun with Chance?" He asked changing the subject.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"What'd you do?"

"Hide and Seek then we walked." I said in a soft voice.

"Oh cool." He said.

It what's awkwardly quiet then I spoke.

"When am I going home?" I asked.

"Julie, your home is gone. If you'd like you could stay here as long as you need too. Even though they wanted to take you to a foster home."

"What's that?" I asked.

"A home for kids that have no one to take care of them." He explained.

"Your taking care of me. Am I in a foster home?"

"No, your in my home."

"Oh ok." I said nodding.

"Did you have an close family members like an aunt, uncle, grandma?" He asked.

"My grandma is sleep. My auntie Sadie is bad. My mommy doesn't want me around her."

"Do you ever cry?" He asked me. "It's just that your so calm."

"Crying can't solve anything so I don't do it."

"Don't be ashamed to cry. It's natural." He said.

I sat there with my legs crossed. I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe.

"No."

"You wanna come inside?" He asked.

"No."

"I'll be inside." He said.

I sat there and sighed. I closed my eyes and began to meditate again as I admired nature.

There was loud boom as the sky's began to darker and the sun faded under the clouds. Lightning struck across the sky as it began to pour rain. I sat there and stared up wondering at the sky.

"Julie, come in its raining." Donald called from the screen door.

I ignored him starring up at the sky still.

"Your going to get sick." He said.

"No." I said.

"Enough with the no. Come in here now!" He yelled.

"Inside voice." I whispered.

The door closed and I sat there in the rain as my my clothes began to soak and grass began to rub off on my shoes as the soaked.
