( CHAPTER FOUR! )

( CARING FOR EACH OTHER WHILE ILL )

"Yeah?"

"Is this not a good time?"

It wasn't. It totally wasn't because Nathaniel was sick and this sensation was something he had never experienced before. Every bone in his body ached, he felt cold but then next moment he was sweating, his skin was so pale that a hunter might've mistaken him for a ghost.

It was such a bad time that Dean had picked up his misery just from the way he said 'yeah'. He had been considering taking his grace back just to get himself out of this horrible situation. He would've if it wasn't for the fact that extracting and taking the grace back was a painful process in his own.

Maybe this was a thing he had to go through to embrace humanity, to reflect back on the fact that they were fragile.

His lips parted to give an answer (and at that moment his vessels brain was turning into mush, he didn't even know what to say) but instead of words he groaned a bit and started coughing. It took him a while to recover from that experience and when he spoke, his voice was hoarse and low. "No, it okay. I mean I'm not good but good to talk, I guess. Fuck."

He closed his eyes and sank back into the couch, what was he suppose to do when he couldn't go out and observe? When he couldn't tune into the angel radio and plan? He couldn't even read because it was hard to focus. He was going to lose his mind if he didn't get well soon. He just didn't know how to do that exactly.

"Damn, you sound terrible."

"Thanks."

"Just an observation, don't hold it against me," Dean spoke and Nathaniel could imagine the cocky smile on the man's face. "Maybe this is the time I repay you for patching me up. Want me to stop by? If you have anyone else looking out for you-"

"I don't." Desperation was evident in his voice. It was the first time for him to seek someone else's company this bad. That was terrifying. The fact that he was terrified was terrifying, he hated being sick-

"Text me the address, yeah? And anything you want me to bring."

Just like that, the other side of the line was empty.

It was good that Dean was caring about him. Even in his state of mind, Nathaniel could see that the man was feeling like he was in debt but he would settle for that, for now.

When the doorbell rang it startled Nathaniel for a moment since it didn't happen a lot. He hadn't even bothered changing the house of his vessel the man had no family and no friends. A poor guy that was struggling to fight of addiction. Maybe tricking him into saying yes in that state of mind was wrong- but he didn't set the rules. It was how it is and sometimes Nathaniel felt like the man was finally at peace.
