She's My Best Friend

Part 5

*2 years later*

It was a few weeks before junior prom when Bucky came home and found Jolie doing her homework and said "Hey Jolie um if I found you a date to prom would you go cause there's a girl I want to ask to prom but I want you to have a date?"

"oh I um no it's fine Buck you go with who you want to go with I'm just going to stay home." she said without even looking up at him. Bucky didn't know she was having a bad day already and him asking her that just made it worse. 

She got up from the kitchen table and went put her stuff in her backpack. "Jolie what's wrong? Why don't you want to go?" Bucky said

"I just I thought you were going to ask me but I was wrong and I don't want to go ok." She said as she started to cry.

"Jolie please don't do this. I'm trying to help." he said

"Buck..now isn't a good time for you to start a fight with Jolie." Winnie said as she heard them start to fight.

"Mom what do you mean?" he said

"Jolie isn't having a good day today." she said 

"What happened?" he said

"My mom is getting remarried and um she wants me to move in here cause the guy's place is a one bedroom apartment so she doesn't have room for me. So yeah everybody leaves Jolie so I'm just not in the mood to argue Bucky." she said 

She went into Bucky's sister Rebecca's old room and cried. Winnie was starting to worry about Jolie she cried all the time and whenever Bucky would have a date or girlfriend it was worse. Bucky went into what was becoming Jolie's room and he laid beside her and said "Jolie talk to me." 

"Buck is there something wrong with me? Why guys find it funny to ask a girl to prom as a joke and then say they would only go to prom with you if you show them your boobs." she whispered

"Did someone do that to you?" he said 

She shook her head yes. "im sorry Jolie." he said as he pulled her closer

The day before prom a teacher noticed cuts on Jolie's arm there were small but they were there. She had been hiding the fact that she was using her razor blades to do it Jolie felt very much alone she had lost her whole family including her grandma. The teacher Mr Thompson called Winnie and said "Mrs Barnes I'm concerned about Jolene Grey I noticed cuts on her arm today in class when her sleeve was pushed up." 

"Oh no..thank you Mr Thompson. I will take care of it." Winnie said

"Jolie honey are you in your room." Winnie said as she went down the hall.

Jolie didn't answer so she went to Bucky's room and said "hey Bucky is Jolie in here." 

"No mom I'm pretty sure she said she was in her room doing her homework atleast that's what she told me when she got home." he said 

Winnie went back to Jolie's door and tried to open it and it was locked. "Bucky I need you to kick down her door please hurry." Winnie said

"Mom what's wrong?" he said

"Just kick it Bucky." she said

He kicked the door down and Winnie went running into Jolie's bathroom and saw that she had cut her wrists and she said "Oh no Jolie sweetie come on. Let's get you to the ER." 

"Mom is she ok?" Bucky said with tears.

"She's going to be fine she didn't cut to deep." she said
