Feng Huiyin's POV
My dream ended abruptly, as I was shaken back into reality. My eyes opened, my eyelashes faintly batting against my lids when I blinked. The room was only lit by the moonlight that shone through the window. When did I fall asleep? I had to think back for a second before everything dawned on me; the nursery, the ghost and also the pills. I let out an exasperated sigh, groaning as I rolled off of the bed.
I was still drowsy and my muscles felt weak as though I'd been asleep for days. What time was now anyway? I looked at the clock and it was already 7:10 P.M., no wonder I felt so sluggish. I walked toward the door and found my things scattered on the floor.
I let out another sigh before I squatted down and began putting everything inside my bag. The last thing I grabbed was the pill bottle. I squeezed the orange bottle in my hand with disappointment. I thought I was well, I thought I would never need these pills anymore. I was about to throw it into my bag when I noticed something. I pulled my hand back and looked at the pills inside the bottle.
They looked somehow rounder than last night; their form should be like this. But as far as I could remember, the pills that I took this morning were more...oval and longer. Was it only my imagination? I was freaking out at that time and couldn't think straight. I put the bottle in my bag and went out my room. But I stopped abruptly just after one step. Wait... Didn't I lock the door this morning? Wa—
BAM!
The loud sound from upstairs cut off my thought. It sounded like a door being slammed. And because of that, the memory of the ghost came rushing back and I felt my hand got clammy.
"Qing? Dayu?" I called for them, but no one answered. Hadn't they come back yet? I opened up my ears, trying to listen harder but I didn't hear anything.
'There is nothing to be scared of. I was just too tired this morning, so I was imagining things. Ghost aren't real!' I thought to myself as I made my way upstairs.
Unlike this morning, the door was closed. I was about to reach the door handle when the door opened suddenly.
"Jesus! Yinyin you're scaring me!" Dayu's said, half screaming, in front of me.
"You're the one who scared me! What are you doing up here?" I asked him as tilted my head to see inside the room. Dayu noticed this and he moved out from the way, giving me the full view of the now opened room.
My face fell faster than a corpse in the coffin, and in that instant my mouth hung and my eye were wide as they could stretch. I expected to see the crib in the middle of the room, but there was none. There was a big old computer on the desk and a lime colored sofa on the side, which was half covered with a huge white cloth.
Furthermore, there was no wallpaper on the wall, only cream painted walls brightening up the room. What about the nursery I saw this morning? Was it just my mind playing tricks on me?
The room was dusty but the fresh air coming in from the opened window helped the air circulation. The wind was quite strong tonight, maybe that what causing the door slam.
"I just started cleaning up the room. Qing has been feeling sick since the day he came and he doesn't get any better. So we checked his room when we got back from the town and you know what? We found mold on the wall behind his bed! That's why now I'm cleaning up this room, so Qing could sleep here for the night. He can use the mattress, though. It's mold free" Dayu chirped in one breath. He was still talking but my thoughts blocked my hearing.
Why did Qing tell Dayu he wasn't well and not me? Why did they look so close? As if they had known each other for a long time. He also met Dayu on the day he met me... right?
