detroit | chapter two
"Me?" Dakota laughs sarcastically. "Really? So that's why you just broke into my apartment." She rolls her eyes. "I meant what do you want with me?"
"We need you to help us stop Lucifer." The man states. Dakota's eyes widen as she starts sputtering nonsense.
"Excuse me? Lucifer? As in, Satan? The Devil?" She asks, shaking her head. "Nuh uh. No way. Not happening. I am not part of your craziness! I don't know you! And, isn't Satan supposed to be like, locked away or something?"
"He was." The woman nods. "But someone freed him. Now Michael needs your help in stopping him."
"How do I know you're not, oh I don't know, working for the Devil? Actually wanting to take me to him to be eaten or something?" Dakota questions, raising her eyebrows and holding her knife out.
"Lucifer does not eat people, at least not that we are aware of." The man states as he tilts his head slightly.
"Right." She nods, rolling her eyes. "Well if you want me to trust you, at least tell me your names."
"I am Nathaniel." The man introduces. "This here is Ariel. We are Angels. We serve under Michael and are on a mission to stop Lucifer. We need your help."
"Angels? Seriously?" Dakota groans. Knowing about Demons and other Monsters since the age of fifteen has been hard enough, but now they're adding Angels to the mix? "Great! Is there a Bigfoot around here somewhere that I need to look out for?"
"Big foot? No. None of us have big feet." Nathaniel shakes his head.
Dakota chuckles slightly and rolls her eyes. "Right. Angels are clueless. Who'd have thought it? Bigfoot is a mythical monster made up to scare people."
"Oh." The Angels still look confused, but slightly less now.
"Brother, Sister. Leave the girl alone." A new voice comes from behind the two Angels and Dakota groans in annoyance. How many strangers are going to be breaking into her home today?
"Don't suppose you guys could take this someplace else?" Dakota suggests. "Maybe a park or anywhere but here?" At the looks she's sent though, she backs down. "Okay, fine. Use my apartment then." She rolls her eyes and walks past all three people, Angels. The newest man has black hair and blue eyes, wearing a trench coat. He kind of looks like he belongs in an office.
"Dakota Quinn." The gravelly voice of the new man states. "My name is Castiel, and I am here to take you to the Winchesters. They need your help."
At the name Winchester, Dakota freezes and turns to Castiel.
"Sam?" She whispers softly, eyes widening.
"No, no! The Winchesters are the enemies, Dakota!" Ariel tells her pleadingly. "You must come with us, Michael needs your help to stop Lucifer!"
"Dakota, Sam and Dean Winchester need you." Castiel states. "You are an important part of this and other Angels and Demons will be after you. Sam and Dean can help, and you can help them."
"No! The Winchesters started all this!" Nathaniel growls. "Dean Winchester broke the first seal, then Sam Winchester broke the final seal and freed Lucifer! You should not be helping those men, Miss Quinn. Nor should you listen to Castiel, he fell! He rebelled and broke Heaven's rules. He is just as bad as they are."
"I am sorry, brother." Castiel sighs. "But Heaven was choosing to help the Apocalypse happen, Sam and Dean have been trying to stop it. I finally chose the right side. Even if they have broken the world. Dakota, you are needed."
The blonde slowly nods. "If you're sure the Winchesters need me. Sam didn't really speak of his brother much, but when he did he sounded cool. And well, you probably know how I feel about Sam if you're here." She chuckles slightly. "Can I pack?"
"Dakota, you are choosing the wrong side!" Ariel warns her. "The Winchesters have a talent for destroying lives."
"Actually, Sam Winchester made my life much better!" Dakota states angrily. "I am going with Castiel to see Sam. I am not choosing the wrong side, I am choosing the right side. You are just too obtuse to see that. Now please would you kindly get out of my house so I can pack some things and get changed."
The two Angels glare at Dakota in anger before Nathaniel disappears with the flutter of wings.
"Don't think you've heard the last from the Angels, Miss Quinn. You will need us when the Winchesters choose each other over you and get you killed." Ariel growls before she too disappears.
Dakota closes her eyes and breathes in deeply before opening them again and turning to the last Angel in her home. "Are the Winchesters okay, Castiel?" She questions.
"Yes. Well physically anyway, mentally I am not so sure. Human emotions still perplex me." Castiel tells her. Dakota smiles slightly and shakes her head.
"Good." She nods with a grin. "I mean that they are physically okay." She adds quickly. "Not that they might not be mentally okay, or that you don't understand human emotions. Which quite frankly is adorable."
Castiel gives her an odd look before nodding towards her bedroom. "You should pack, Dakota. No doubt the Winchesters will need us soon. I will use my calling device soon to ask where they are."
"Calling device? You mean a phone?" Dakota giggles slightly. Castiel nods a little and Dakota shakes her head in amusement. "And you're an Angel, aren't you? Why do they need to tell you where they are? Can you not, I don't know, sense them?"
"I carved warding sigils on their ribs, no Angel can locate them." Castiel explains. "And while we are talking of that, I should do the same to you." He steps forward, places a hand on Dakota's chest and suddenly a sharp pain fills her and she cries out slightly.
"You don't just do that, dude!" She shouts. "Not cool!"
"Sorry." Castiel shrugs slightly.
Dakota rolls her eyes and stalks off to her room to change and pack.
Her life just got a million times more interesting.
