detroit | chapter three
Dakota finally walks out of her room, changed and with a duffel bag over her shoulder, and grins at Castiel.
"Ready and steady, Cassie." She smirks. Castiel cocks his head to the side and narrows his head at the girl, who just rolls her eyes. "Never mind. Just, I'm ready."
"Good." Castiel nods, and next thing she knows he's touching her on the forehead and a strange sensation washes over her, and she's stood in a hospital car park.
"What the Hell?" She demands looking around, worried that someone could've seen them appear out of thin air. "Give a girl some warning next time, Castiel."
"I apologise." Castiel says and Dakota smiles and nods. "Sam and Dean are inside the hospital."
Dakota's eyes widen in shock and fear. "What? I thought you said that they are physically okay! You said they weren't hurt! Why would you lie?"
"I didn't." Castiel cocks his head again in that adorable way that makes Dakota chuckle.
"Then why the Hell are they in hospital?" Dakota snaps.
"Their friend is in there." Castiel tells her. "He was possessed by a demon and stabbed himself when he managed to take back control. The Winchesters are here with him, this is where they said to meet."
Dakota nods slightly before the two walk towards the Hospital, and Dakota freezes right outside the door. "What if he's different?" She asks Castiel, the Angel gives her a puzzled look. "What if he doesn't want to see me? He might hate me for not looking for him after his Dad took him back! Or he might not like who I am now."
"I don't know how I am supposed to answer that." Castiel sighs slightly. "But we need to go in now, the Winchesters need help, and I need their help. So come on."
Dakota rolls her eyes at the Angel, realising just how truthful he was being when he said he doesn't understand humans.
"All right, all right. I'm coming, Castiel." Dakota groans as the two finally enter the hospital. "Can I have more information about why the Winchesters need my help?" Castiel ignores her and they keep walking. "I mean, please? Why me of all people? What is it about me that makes me so special?"
"There is a connection between you and Sam, none of the Angels or Demons know what it is." Castiel explains, Dakota nods having already known of the connection.
"Wait, the Angels and Demons don't even know what this connection is? Then why do they need me?" Dakota questions, raising an eyebrow.
"I think they want to try using you against Sam, for what I don't know. They don't really like him, I didn't either at first. But I have grown to realise that the Winchesters are good men." Castiel continues. "We need you because the connection might be something useful."
Nodding, Dakota continues walking slightly behind the Angel. Until Dakota starts sensing that Sam is around and she freezes. "They're just up that corridor." She tells Castiel. "Why don't you go see them and I'll come round in a minute?"
Castiel gives the blonde a look, before nodding and walking down the corridor.
"Cellphone, Cas? Really? Since when do Angels need to reach out and touch someone?" A deep- though not as deep as Castiel's- voice asks. Dakota immediately knows it's not Sam, so it must be Dean.
"You're hidden from Angels now- all Angels. I won't be able to simply-" Castiel is cut off, but Dakota can't hear by who or what.
Dakota leans against the wall and closes her eyes, breathing heavily. She's about to see Sam Winchester again after all these years. She knows he's going to be different to what he was as a teenager. She also knows he somehow let Lucifer out of Hell or something, but the way Castiel spoke back at her apartment they are now trying to stop the Devil and it sounded like it was an accident.
She groans slightly, her life has become too messed up for her to even think about, and she hasn't even reunited with Sam yet.
Suddenly, Dakota feels the strong urge to go towards the room Castiel already entered. So, naturally, the blonde walks towards it.
"At least he's talking now." Dean's voice comes from inside the room as she gets closer.
"I heard that." Another voice says, annoyed. Dakota realises he sounds older than Dean does.
"I don't have much time, we need to talk." Castiel speaks again.
"Okay." Dean says, slightly surprised.
"Your plan to kill Lucifer." Castiel states, Dakota's eyebrows shoot up in shock.
"Yeah. You want to help?" Dean asks.
"No. It's foolish. It can't be done." Castiel tells him, Dakota almost snorts in amusement.
"Oh, thanks for the support." Dean says sarcastically.
"But I believe I have the solution." Castiel continues as if Dean hadn't even spoken. "There is someone besides Michael strong enough to take on Lucifer. Strong enough to stop the Apocalypse."
"I take it you don't mean me?" Dakota smirks, walking into the room. All eyes land on her, and Dean whips out a gun making Dakota roll her eyes.
"Dean, wait!" Sam calls out loudly, grabbing his brothers wrist.
"Hello to you too, Samantha." Dakota grins. A huge smile appears on Sam's face as he grips Dakota's arms and pulls her into him for a hug.
"Hey there blondie." He laughs. Dakota groans against his shoulder.
"You know I hate when you call me that, Sammy." Dakota whines, she feels more than hears his laughter.
"You have no idea how much I missed you, Kota." He whispers.
"As much as I hate to ruin this heartfelt apparent reunion, who the Hell are you?" Dean asks as Dakota and Sam pull apart.
"This is Dakota." Sam introduces. "We, uh, knew each other when we were teenagers. We were close."
Dean raises an eyebrow at his brother, but otherwise shakes his head and turns to Castiel. "Why is she here?"
"The other Angels wanted her, they believe she is useful. I also believe there is something useful about her, she may be able to help." Castiel tells the brothers and the man in the Wheelchair.
"Wait, what?" Sam's eyes widen. "Has this got something to do with that, uh, connection we have?"
Dean is about to ask what he means, but Castiel speaks first. "I believe so, yes."
"Anyway, Cas. You were saying you think you know someone who can help us." Sam returns to the conversation they were having before Dakota intruded. The blonde immediately feels guilty for interrupting such an important conversation.
"Yes." Castiel nods. "I believe I know of someone."
"Who's that?" Sam questions confusedly.
"The one who resurrected me and put you on that airplane." Castiel tells them. A look of slight understanding appears on the brothers' faces. "The one who started everything. God." Sam and Dean immediately look skeptical, and Dakota realises she probably doesn't look much different. "I'm gonna find God."
Dakota groans inwardly, because, seriously?
