"What are you afraid of?" Kazuki asked, tracing the bite mark on my neck, leaving a tingling feeling everywhere he touches. We were leaning against the wall on our bunk bed, my body wrapped into Kazuki's
"The Captain Crunch mascot," I shivered, but not because of the thought of the gray-haired captain with the plastered on smile. Rather, I wasn't too inclined to answer truthfully to Kazuki. I was scared that Kazuki would see me as weak, and leave me.
But Kazuki saw through my lie. He chuckled, then there was the feeling of something hard biting down on my ear. I yelped. Did Kazuki just bite my ear?
"You can confide in me," Kazuki said, smiling, "I am your boyfriend after all."
After a few seconds of me trying to figure out if I should say it or now, I let it spill, "I'm scared of dying here at this school"
"Really?" Kazuki looked surprised.
"When I came here, I didn't have the strength and endurance you and Ryo have or the weapon skill that Kagami and Seo show, nor the magic that Caesar and Skyler have."
"Huh," Kazuki looked out the window of the dorm towards the setting sun, obviously deep in thought. I had homework for dueling class tomorrow, being that I had to decide on an improvised weapon, and my mind wandered there, with Kazuki looking out the window.
"Y'know what, Blaise, let me make you a promise."
Kazuki shifted positions so that he was facing me. Clasping my hands in his, he said, "Blaise Sands, I promise you. I won't let you die."
"Are you kidding me? These people are everywhere!" Ryo exclaimed, his eyes flicking from one camera feed to another. Behemoth HQ had been set up with security feed for the areas that they conquered.
"There is nobody in the dorms, Blaise managed to escape the convenience store, and Hyacinth is at Luxor's tower with a sniper," Seo muttered to himself, flipping through the cameras feeds. He couldn't look at each video longer for a second. The heartless and cruel way that the hooded figures killed was unbearable for Seo, who never killed unless necessary.
Then Seo popped onto a camera feed that he couldn't look away from. The person in it wore no hood and the muscular figure with the pale skin and dirty white hair was a familiar sight to Seo.
It was obvious that Ryo also recognized the figure in the feed, who hacked and slashed, almost as if he wasn't the same person the two of them had known and fought. Ryo didn't say anything, and in the end, it was CJ who said it.
"What in Pop Tart's name is Professor Hundun doing there?" CJ exclaimed, mashing the zoom in button until Hundun's face was shown in gigantic pixels.
"Setsuna, honey!" Ryo shouted out of the dark security room, "Come here for a moment, will you?"
"What is it, Ryo?" Setsuna shuffled into the dark room, covered head to toe in blankets. Now that she was in front of him, Seo realized that he hadn't seen Setsuna really get up and walk around for quite a while.
"Can you tell us for certain if that's your dad or not?" Ryo asked, pointing to the computer monitor. In all honesty, Seo had forgotten that the gentle-souled fox girl was Hundun's daughter.
Setsuna blinked rapidly, looking carefully into the monitor. "I fear that is."
"Are you okay with the fact that we'll be up against your father?" Seo asked, concerned.
"If father's angel seal has broken, I suppose we have no choice," Setsuna said grimly.
"Angel seal?" CJ asked, obviously curious for more information. It was a sore reminder just how little time CJ had spent with them.
