The day passed slowly... almost too slowly for Erik as he avoided Red Death. All he really had to do was stay out of the cellars, but that seemed nearly impossible, as that was the only home that Erik knew. By the time Erik went to Box 5, Erik was exhausted, for he had seen his red-masked companion almost everywhere. He didn't know how, but Erik knew that the first chance he got, Red Death would be forced out of the Opera house.

By the time the final curtain dropped, Erik was already on his way to Christine Daae's dressing room. He bit back an oath as he saw the dark-haired Viscount Raoul de Chagny in the dressing room, waiting for his fiance.
He frowned, waiting patiently for the young Swedish girl to come to her dressing room. It seemed to take two eternities, but when she finally came, the Viscount said only a few words before leaving. Christine seemed greatly excited by these few words about her father and an Angel.
"Christine," Erik sung slowly, savoring the way it sounded.
"Angel... you're here!" she sounded surprised, almost as if she hadn't expected him to come to their daily lesson in her dressing room.
"Yes, of course. Come... there is something I must show you." another voice said. Erik's expression was one of shock when he realized who the voice belonged to: Red Death.
No, he can't... what the... She can't come down here... The Phantom knew that Red Death would have done something like this, but he hadn't expected it now.
While his anger at Red Death simmered, Christine and the horrible man talked. Christine seemed frightened and slightly confused by the sudden request to come through the mirror. Although the piece of reflective glass looked normal, it was far from it. The secret passageway behind it led to many places.... his home included. He knew that if Christine went down there, she might not return to the surface for a long time. Erik knew that Red Death had this knowledge as well... that was probably the reason why he had done it.
From his spot behind the wall, Erik saw Christine stepping through the mirror and into the passageway that led to the cellars.... and his home.
