As the brunette walked away an emptiness filled Shayne's lungs. He was drowning, but he could breathe. Damien just straight up left him right then and there. No explanation, he just walked away. What was with him and disappearing?

Shayne immediately began to walk home, a million questions floating around in his head, pounding on the inside of his skull. Why were his lips on fire? Why did his head hurt? Why does Damien keep leaving? Why was he choking?

The blonde man found himself choking, on nothing. Just choking on air. Air was something you need to live. You smoothly breathe it in and out. If you stop breathing, its game over. Air was a light, breezy substance. You usually forget about its existence. Air can be soft and gentle, like a soft breeze on a summer day. But air can also be powerful and destructive. Tornadoes have extraordinary power, having the capability to rip apart buildings and completely destroy people's lives.

This air was different though. This air was thick, thick and watery. There was no rain, not a single puff of white in the sky. Yet the air felt heavy and filled with fluid that was entering his lungs. The burning sensation on his lips spread across his face like wildfire, leaving him in excruciating pain. He lost his ability to breathe and had collapsed onto the concrete of the sidewalk, his body colliding with the sizzling pavement.

Choas erupted around the scene. People on their phones dialing 911, eardrum-piercing screams from children, people stopping their cars to see what was going on, all this while Shayne was in spasms on the ground. He was crying out in agony as his vision got blurry and all color saturation was lost. A black backdrop was soon the only thing he could see. He wanted to either die or pass out. He couldn't stand the pain.

The next sense to go was hearing, the screaming being muffled like everyone had a pillow to their mouths. Even the muffled noises faded out, leaving him with a horrible sound, a deafening scream called silence. Shayne thought he'd experienced complete silence before in the office, but he was completely wrong. There was always the sound of typing or someone blowing their nose, someone slightly moving in their seat. Complete silence was a rare and unique thing. You experience it when you're unconscious, but then again you're not conscious to hear it.

Not even those who are deaf experience true silence, sure they can come pretty damn close but they'll always have the sensation of sound like a white noise. Only a very few numbers of deaf people experience true silence.

Though there was no sound, it was the lack of sound that was one of the worse things a person could experience. Just the complete emptiness of th world around Shayne destroyed him. That silence was short-lived, however; as a voice started speaking to him from inside his head.

Shayne didn't know if he was relieved by the voice or if the voice was even worse than the silence.

"Don't trust him."

"Come with me."

"He's a liar."

"He'll ruin everything."

"It's not worth it."

Another voice chimed in.

"Don't listen to him."

"He can't be trusted."

"He's the one lying to you."

"Get out of his head."

"No you. He's bad. He's corrupted and he'll corrupt you."

"Shut the fuck up. Just go to sleep."

"Please stay awake. Fight through it."

"You're in extreme pain. Don't you want to just close your eyes."

"Shayne, listen to me. If you close your eyes you might not ever open them again."

"Don't listen to him. Sleep. It's easier."

"Don't do it."

"Do it."

Shayne couldn't handle all of this. His body was completely out of his control, and he was being tortured and tormented by the burning pain that felt like it was tearing apart his flesh. On top of that he had two different voices arguing in his head and Shayne had no clue who to trust.

He felt his eyelids become heavy, and no matter who he should trust, Shayne couldn't help but allow them to fall down. No more pain, no more voices, just the precious feeling of not existing.

I haven't updated in forever and this chapter is short, sorry. I've had writers block oof.
