"It was lovely to meet you all."

Peter smiled back at my family as we walked toward the door. Everything had gone perfectly. No one had mentioned magic even once, or used it by accident. It had been a seemingly perfect night, everything I had hoped for.

As we approached his car, Peter turned and smiled at me.

"See? That wasn't so bad." I teased, poking his arm playfully. He caught my hand and held it to his face, and sighed.

"This is going to sound bad, but thank God it's over."

I laughed. "It does sound bad, but I understand."

He laughed too, "You don't understand! It was like I was holding my breath the whole night!"

I put my arms around his waist and sighed, suddenly somber that he was leaving. Leaving me to deal with the drama that was my magic. "Thank you for coming. And holding your breath for the whole night. It really does mean a lot to me."

He pulled back and looked into my eyes, studying them for a moment. "I would do anything for you, Lily. Truly. Even if that means giving up Doctor Who or Star Wars. I'd do it."

        I laughed. "Not your fandoms!"

"I know." he huffed. "Good thing you're hot."

I pulled away from him and turned to leave. "Your vapid girlfriend has things to do."

He grabbed my hand and chuckled at me. "You're far from vapid, love."

"Thank you for reestablishing my confidence in my not-vapidness, darling." I pecked him on the cheek. "I really should get back inside."

He brushed my hair away from my face and kissed me. "Alright. Good night, Lily. I love you."

"I love you too." a blush crept onto my cheeks, and I was happy that it was dark enough to hide it. "Text me when you get-"

A flash of green light appeared above Peter's truck. I froze in place, unable to take my eyes off of it. It morphed into a hooded figure, and pulled the hood away from it's face.

It was a woman, maybe in her early twenties. She had long blonde hair and a scar from her eyebrow to the start of her neck. Her eyes were a bright and piercing blue, so bright that they almost glowed in the darkness.

Peter got out of his car and looked up at the person, opening his mouth to speak. The woman help up her hand.

"Don't speak, Muggle. We just want the girl. This can be easy, or difficult. It's your choice." her voice was smooth, calm. A chill ran through me. This was bad…very bad.

"She's not going anywhere with you." Peter said, pushing me behind him. "Lily, go into the house."

I couldn't move, even though I willed my limbs to run. I screamed at my body to do something, but I couldn't budge. I was frozen with fear.

The woman laughed, and waved a hand in front of her. A  series of green lights flashed along the street, hooded figures emerging from them.

That was when my body kicked into gear. I grabbed Peter's hand and pulled him toward the house, running at full speed to the front door. I pushed the door open and slammed it behind me.

"MOM! DAD!" I yelled, letting go of Peter and running into the kitchen. Everyone was helping clean up, but froze when I entered. I could only imagine what I looked like. Frantic, my eyes probably wide with fear. My dad threw the dishes he had into the sink.
