"You never know what's coming. A small wave,or maybe a big one. All you can really do is hope that when it comes , you surf over it, instead of drown in its monstrosity. "

Alyssa Speer

Shit, shit, shit," Delia muttered as she tried to juggle her car keys, coffee and phone as her phone started ringing.
" Detective Singh speaking... I'm almost there Chief... yes, yes I know, just got caught in traffic...see you soon...oh Devon is already there... ok, bye"

"Of all the days to hit the snooze button for a record setting time, it had to be day 1 as Detective Singh. Thank goodness, I live around the corner from this restaurant- and I know the back roads",Dels smirked to herself. She quickly tied her long black hair into a ponytail and started up her car quickly speeding out of the driveway of her complex.

Dels rolled herself into a parking spot close to The Poseidon before her phone started ringing again- does Chief really lack this much confidence in me- oh gosh it's Ally.

"Hey Ally-talk quick friend- I'm kinda already late "
"Nyahaha" Aliyah cackled, "I need my post call nap so trust me I'll be fast- supper at my place, I'm making chicken wings and you can't back out."
"But..."
"Ok bye, go make me proud homegirl,"
And with that Ally's call was done- " Does she ever give me a choice," Dels rolled her eyes.

"Morning Dev, sorry I'm late, overslept," as she greeted Devon , her colleague and work bestie.
"Did my homie score last night?"Dev winked at her
"Ugh that guy was an absolute douche- never trust guys Aunty Pree recommends", groaned Dels, "But enough of my social life what's happened here?", asked Dels as she took in the pale staff members sitting in the dining area as the made their way through the "STAFF ONLY" doors.
"Just a quick warning Dels,  it's quite disturbing and not a case we can keep quiet. The victim is the head chef, Isabella Smith, originally from Joburg, so she's been living alone in Durbs for the past five years now- apparently a really hard worker and absolutely brilliant, doesn't sound like she would get herself caught in any funny business, in terms of enemies we have to dig around for more info. She was found at 6 AM , by the sous chef, Tristan Schultz , he said the door was already open but didn't suspect anything as Smith was always the first one in. According to forensics it looks like the primary cause of death was drowning- and trust me it's not a pretty sight."
"Wait are you telling me someone drowned her at the pier and dragged her in?," Del gasped incredulously.
"That's what I was getting too- it seems like someone held her head down in that massive soup pot of boiling water- this was definitely done in cold blood", Dev stated grimly.
"Definitely a day for the papers", muttered Del. "I'm assuming the body is off to the lab?"
"Yep, let forensics do their things and we'll start by questioning the staff"
"Cool, so guess we should start with the sous chef who found the body..." Del broke off as an elderly and furious man marched into the kitchen...
