It was a rarely warm day in England when The Doctor arrived. After Martha had left the TARDIS, he had spent the past few weeks (from a linear, subjective viewpoint) traveling on his own. Today however, he had landed in England to investigate some strange reports of a noseless man running around and... shooting people with sticks. This idea, obviously, intrigued the Doctor, and so on this rarely warm day of days the Doctor parked the TARDIS on the grounds of what was supposedly a very old castle. There was nothing special about this castle, but for some reason the TARDIS had chosen to land here, so clearly the noseless red eyed-stick-murderer-guy must be close. Once on the ground, the Doctor opened the doors of his blue box.... And was horrified at the sight. The sky was on fire. Lights erupted in the air, debris fell from the castle walls, and the screams of dying and terrified people pierced his ears.
He flung himself out of the TARDIS, looking all around for some explanation, trying to find some way to help. Across the devastated courtyard, a group of children stood huddled together. Suddenly, one ginger head popped out from the huddle.
The ginger looked at the Doctor.
The Doctor looked at the ginger, enviously admiring that gorgeous head of red.
"Everyone! Get into the Police Box!" the ginger boy shouted.
The Doctor, mesmerized by the boy's hair, did not realize what was happening until it was too late. Before he could shut the door, a group of eight young adults barreled into the TARDIS. The Doctor tried to shoe them back out the door, but they refused to leave. Fed up, he through his hands in the air and began to close the door. Perhaps they could help him track down the noseless, stick-wielding murderer. Just before the door clicked shut, a girls face appeared in the doorway.
"WONNY!" she screamed, "WHERE ARE YOU GOING? PEOPLE ARE DYING!"
"Bloody hell!" the ginger rolled his eyes, "don't let her in here!"
But it was too late. The Doctor had shut the door behind the spastic brown-haired girl.
Inside the TARDIS, the teens began to investigate their strange surroundings. There were buttons and levers and wires and screens protruding from the walls of this incredibly large police call box.
"Well I hate to tell everyone this," began another red headed boy, who was much taller than the other, "but there is a possibility that this muggle police call box is not in fact a muggle police call box."
"What is it then?" A girl with bushy brown hair asked, "I've never seen a box like this before. It's larger on the inside... an undetectable extension perhaps?"
"Yes, yes... It's larger on the inside. It's not like you're the first to make that comment." The Doctor explained, "As you've guessed, it's not a police box. It's a TARDIS. That stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space. It's my spaceship."
The teens clearly had never encountered a spaceship before. They took turns sharing dumbfounded looks and a few gestures that were understood in all realms as suggesting that he, the Doctor, was a raving lunatic.
"It doesn't matter." One dark haired boy with glasses declared, "Can it get us out of here? In case you hadn't noticed, sir, we're in the middle of a war."
The Doctor did not want to "get them out of here," because he had just gotten there, and hadn't even begun to investigate. He opened his mouth to tell the teenagers this, but from the corner of the TARDIS came a delighted voice.
