Chris's POV:
"Balz, wake up. We have to go to the studio." I nudged Josh as I packed my bag. "Are you fucking kidding me?" Josh groaned as he got up from the coach. "Yes, now come on. The guys are waiting out front." I said as I made my way out the door.
"Where's Balz?" Ricky asked as I got into the back seat with him in Ang's car. On cue, Balz quickly locked the door and ran to the car. "There." I said as he jumped in. "Alright, lets go." Ang said as he cued Devin to start driving.
"So, why are we going to the studio today? We have off until tour." Balz asked, letting out a loud yawn. "We are suppost to meet this knew band in town or something. Their called The Suffering We Bare." Devin said as he turned the corner to our studio. Rick nodded,
"Cool name. You think they're any good?" he asked. I shrugged, "Probably. I don't see why they would be coming here to start their career if they weren't." The guys all nodded in agreement, except for Ryan. He seemed really tense and nervous.
"Ryan, what's with you today?" I asked as we came to a stop. He sighed, "Chris, I think you should know something about the band." he said nervously. I gave him a confused look, "Our band?" I asked. He rolled his eyes, "No, dipshit! The band we are meeting! I don't think-"
" 'Morning guys! The band should be arriving here shortly. You can meet Tyler upstairs in your regular spot." the studio sercetary, Maria, greeted us as we made our way through the doors. "Just tell me later." I whispered to Ryan as we made our way into the elevator. He gave me a nervous look and brushed it off.
When we got to our usual recording studio, we found our manager, Tyler. "Boys." He smiled as he made his way towards his bag to upll out a folder. "Dude, why are you always so organized?" Rick laughed as he opened the folder.
"Shut up, Olson." Tyler barked as he handed me a poster. "This is the band you that you will be working with. Their band is The Suffering We Bare. Their guitarist is Charlie Wright. Their bassist is Jessica "Blade" Bell. Their drummer is Mani Allen. And their frontman, or I should say frontwoman in this case, is Coraline Scott."
I froze when he said her name. That name has never left my mind since the day I left. Day the I had to leave her behind for the band. I never wanted to leave Core. She was my best friend, I loved her. But I had to leave. I couldn't let down the guys for something I promised so long ago. She was fumming mad when I told her I was leaving. She never forgot the promise we made. I wish she could have, so we could still be friends.
I stood there staring at the picture of her and her bandmates. Her hair was dyed purple and cut up to her shoulders. Her green eyes looked gorgeous with her black studded dress. Her vans were the same color as her hair which made me chuckle. She always liked her hair clips or color to be the same as something she wore. I guess even after two years, she still hasn't changed much.
She had thick, black eyeliner rimmed around her eyes. Her red lips looked adorable with the guitar she was holding. And lastly, she got a new tattoo. It stood tall on her forearm, the sword of Link. We always would play video games when we hung out. Link was her favorite character. I remember when she got her first tattoo. She was so scared and helpless, but I stood by her like I promised.
~~Flashback~~
"Chris, I'm really scared." Core cowered as we walked into the tattoo parlor. "Don't be, Core. I will be right here if you need me." I smiled down at my best friend. She gripped onto my arm tight and walked over to the tattoo lady.
"Go over there." Core demanded with a grin plastered on her face. "Why? I thought you wanted me here." I gave her a fake frown. She rolled her eyes, "I do. I just don't want you to know what I'm getting. It's a surprise." She grinned even widder. I stomped over to the corner so Core could tell the girl what she wanted.
She has been waiting to get this tattoo for months now. She planned out the whole thing since July, just waiting for her December birthday to come along. My birthday was in October, so I got mine first.
"Alright, you can just come with me and we will get started." I heard the lady say to Core as she started for a room. Core looked at me with worry in her eyes, "Can he come in with me?" she asked hastily, slowly moving towards me in the process.
"Of course." the girl smiled and walked into the room. I took Core's hand and lead her into the room. I could feel her hand clam up and tighten through mine. "It's going to be fine, Core. I'll always be here for you." I assured her and gave her hand a squeeze. She smiled up at me,
"Thanks Chris." she replied and got onto the table for the girl to start. Core lifted up her shirt slightely and let the girl start. The tattoo was going to be on her hip, that's all I knew. At least it wouldn't hurt as much. The hips hurt the least I'm pretty sure. That's probably why she choose it.
I could feel the pain run through her body as a tear shead from her eye. I hated seeing her like this, in pain. I gripped her hand tight, "It's okay, Core. I'm here." I calmed her and rubbed her back. Her breath slowly came out one by one to calm herself. She smiled weakly at me as I held her hand the whole time.
After about forty-five minutes of tattooing, the girl was finally finished. "Well, let me see it god dammit!" I yelled in excitement. She smiled weakly, "Fine, fine!" she giggled. She lifted up her shirt to show three black words written in perfect script letters.
Never give in.
~~Flashback over~~
"Is that who I think it is?" Angelo asked as he pointed to her picture. I nodded, "Yep. That's Core." The guys looked back at me with happiness in their eyes. "We get to see Coraline again?" Balz asked excitedly as he jumped up and down. "Yeah, we do." Rick stopped Balz and motioned him not to say a word.
"Wait, who's Coraline?" Ghost asked. "Um, Ghost, I don't think that-"
"No, it's fine. I'll tell him." I interuppted Ryan as he tried to explain. "Yes, Chris. Please tell us." Tyler looked back at me with an angry expression on his face. I sighed,
"It's nothing bad, Ty. Coraline and I used to be friends since we were little. We promised each other that we would never leave each other's side, no matter what. But when the band had to move here, I had to leave. I broke the promise and Core has never forgiven me for it. It's been a long time since I tried to get in contact with her. I miss her, so much." I said weakly as everyone stared back at me.
Tyler cleared his throat, "Well, this better not interfear with work or it will be a probelm. The band should be up any second now. Best behaivor." Tyler reminded us as he made his way out the door. As the door closed behind him, the guys all turned to me.
"So, are you going to make up with her finally?" Ryan asked. "I-I guess. I didn't really plan on seeing her again." I stuttered. "Well you better! I miss Core..." Ryan pouted. The guys all nodded in agreement, except Ghost of course. He just seemed really confused.
Suddenly, the door opened and Tyler entered with the band. Two guys came in first, then one girl, and then her. She look as beautiful as ever. Her green eyes hit me in the same spot it did everytime I saw her back in Scranton. My heart.
"Boys, this is The Suffering We Bare. Charlie, Mani, Blade, Core; this is Motionless in White." Tyler introduced us to each other.
"Coraline." her name slipped out of my mouth by accident. She turned to me and her face fell,
"Chris?"
