"What the hell is going on Evie?"
I was currently sitting on Emily's, my best friend, couch with a cup of tea in my hands. After waiting outside my parents for an hour just hoping they would open their door and let me inside and maybe, just maybe, recognize that I would never cheat on my husband, Emily called me saying that her stepmother had just called her and told her not to talk to me anymore.
So naturally she told me to come to her apartment so we could talk. Grateful that she invited me to her home, I realized that if she hadn't called me I wouldn't have anywhere to go.
I can't believe I've become this pathetic, I didn't even have anywhere to go. And now here I am with my best friend asking me what the hell is going on, and I don't even know what to say because I don't even know what the hell is going on.
"What have you heard?" I ask her trying to find out more about this situation.
"All I know is that my step monster calls me about and hour ago and tells me that if I have any sort of loyalty toward my family and any respect for my name I should stop talking to you. I obviously told her where she could stick her loyalty and I immediately called my dad to ask what was going on. And it wasn't good what he told me Evie," she looks at me sympathetically and continues, "Everyone is painting you out to be a cheater and a liar. They say Tristan got some photos of you with another man. No one knows who they are from but everyone believes in them. Dad said Tristan was distraught when he saw them, he went crazy in his office throwing everything around my dad and his dad had to go in there and sit him down before he really hurt himself."
Tears come to my eyes hearing this just makes me feel even worse, just knowing how much he was hurt over something that isn't even true.
Emily rubs my back in comfort and goes back to her story.
"Dad said all Tristan kept on saying before he calmed down enough was 'How could she do this?'. When they finally got Tristan to calm down he told them about the pictures and showed them to him. And Evie, my dad said it wasn't good, who ever fabricated those photos did a really good job."
"Wait so he doesn't think they are real?"
"No of course not. Evie we've known each other since we where both little, my dad has basically seen you grow up he knows you would never do anything like this." She states as if it is something I should already know.
"I know, it just, even my own parents believed those lies. My own parents!" I cry.
"Oh, Evie I'm so sorry this is happening to you." Emily hugs me and I see she is also crying with me.
"Do his parents and sisters believe it too?" I ask.
Emily nods, "Dad said both of his parents believe it and so does Jessica. He said Courtney still hasn't come back from school so they didn't want to bother her with this."
It breaks my heart knowing that both of his parents and his oldest sister Jessica believe everything as well.
"I can't believe this is happening Em, on our anniversary of all days. Just when I was about to tell him the most incredible new that will change our lives forever." I sod.
Emily stills next to me, "Wait Evie you don't mean?" She gasps looking at my flat stomach.
I give her a small tearful smile, "I'm pregnant."
"I'm going to be an auntie?!" she yells excitedly jumping of the couch.
"Yes you are." I give her a small chuckle.
