the breeze slipped through the gap of the window. june sat on the floor, looking out to her balcony at the busy city of seoul from afar. she stuffed her choc chip cookies in her face, letting the crumbs fell freely onto her yellow scarf.

it was one of those late afternoons, when the cold had froze off every knuckles.

june took a rest from her paperwork, hugging her furry cushion in silence as the traffic's swirls of brightness from kilometres away travelled like little sparkles.

she rubbed her dried eyes and let out a long sigh until she was almost out of breath.

the past nights of squeezing a month worth of data into a 2 paged report had resulted in a terrible sleep deprivation.

i really shouldn't have wasted my time at that party huh?

she blamed the innocent night, even though she knew that it was her habit of procrastination that caused it all.

the door bell rang. clear and distinct.

june grunted as she forced herself up. she peeked through the door hole, standing on her tippy toes.

heat rushed to her face when she recognised the tall man who bent down and wave. the memory from the party reminded her of how easily she let her guard down.

funny though, it wasn't like anything could happen to her. she knew clearly that johnny wouldn't cause harm after wendy and amber's approvement. maybe june just always hated the fact that her attitude would make a 360 degree turn every time after drinking.

as if it released her inner self which she promised to keep safe and away from anyone forever.

"what are you doing here?"

johnny leaned against her doorframe as soon as she opened the door.

"can i borrow some egg?" he held out the plastic bag that he prepared.

"i'm craving some cookies."

"johnny, there's a grocery store right at the corner." she gave him a you serious? look.

"yea but i don't need like a whole carton of eggs, i'm only baking a batch."

"your point isn't strong enough,"

"sorry." she unfolded her arms, ready to close her door.

"come on, don't be so mean," johnny stopped the door with his large hand, "it won't cost much."

"actually, considering the fact that i'm attempting to save up for the dpr concert with the very low income i get each week? it will cost much."

"fast thinking. guess i didn't win your sympathy." johnny sulked.

"no you really didn't," she was ready to close the door again.

but johnny left before june could react, wrapping the plastic bag around his arm like a child.

"later neighbour!" he said loudly before swinging his own door behind.

the door bell rang again.

johnny appeared before june with crutches, beaming brightly.

"what the hell?"

"feel sad for me yet?" he faked a limp with the crutches.

june rolled her eyes.

"can you lend a poor guy who can't get his own grocery without difficulty some eggs for his sweet sweet cookies now?"

"why do you just randomly have crutches? don't tell me you own some sort of magical pouch that has every-

"close. my friend, yuta, does have everything. last time he broke a leg-

"no. good attempt johnny, good attempt," june quickly cut his sentence off. " plus, i only have three eggs left. so sorry." she allowed her door tightly shut.

but beyond the thick wooden door, johnny could hear light faint giggles. then he chuckled to himself, collecting the useless crutches with one arm and went back home in unexpected contentment.
