"june? why are you-
"let's bake some cookies!" june kicked her shoes aside and barged into his space, hugging a bag of ingredients in front of her chest. and slightly out of breath.
"what?"
"weren't you craving some before?" she settled the bag down on his untouched kitchen counter, "does choc chip cookies sound good to you?"
"vanilla. vanilla cupcake." johnny closed his door and walked towards her.
she raised a brow at him.
"ooookay. guess you're not feeling so shitty anymore. great. now where was i... right!three eggs." she talked to herself as she prepared the ingredients.
"can i have icing with my cupcake too?"
"of course."
johnny laughed, clear and loud.
"just spill it."
"what." she turned to look at him, noticing the dark bags under his eyes. short bits of hair peeped out on his rough chin.
"what made you come." he brushed away his long hair that needed a trim for better vision.
she fell silent, hesitating on how she would answer the question.
"the 7th sense is a great song you know."
"so you realized." johnny sighed with his head down. frowning, he didn't know what to feel. he put his arms back on the kitchen counter and looked up the ceiling.
the past few days had been simply exhausting. he cried, he told himself everything was fine, he moved on, and lost hope all over again.
nothing, was what he felt. too numb to be happy for the others, too numb to be angry at himself.
"but I'm sure that there's a better song waiting for you."
johnny chuckled, "thanks." he passed a mug of hot tea to june.
I used to believe in that too.
she took a sip in silent, and looked back up to meet his eyes.
and johnny recognised that look, the look he's gotten too often. sympathy.
"so chef! what's the next ingredient?"
he forced himself off the kitchen counter enthusiastically. as if he was back to day one like a keen trainee, stepping into his first ever vocal lesson.
