"You were killed... by a fish!" The woman in front of David laughed hysterically while he attempted to find out where he was. His surroundings were completely dark, though he himself and the woman in front of him seemed to be completely illuminated somehow. He seemed to be standing on a flat surface, yet it wasn't at all visible as it was the same pitch-black color as everything else. Slowly, he lifted his hands so that he could inspect them, only to find that they were glowing for some reason. And as he looked at them, he wondered just how he had come to be in this space where he currently found himself.

"Where am I?" David asked, attempting to remember his most recent experiences but completely failing.

"It wasn't even anything dangerous! A trout! Who gets killed by a rainbow trout?!" The woman continued her laughter, and slowly, David's memory started coming back to him. He had been fishing in at a lake that his parents had found along with his younger brother and elder sister when it had happened. Something had started pulling on his line when he had been in the middle of reeling his lure in. He'd been just about to take a break from fishing as he hadn't caught anything that day, so when he felt the resistance to his line, he'd gotten over excited and yanked his fishing rod into the air so that he could hook whatever was on the other side. Unfortunately at the time, the fish had been right next to the boat and close the surface of the water when he'd done that, and it had soared out of the water heading straight towards him. Also, due to rotten luck, his little brother had chosen that time to accidentally drop his rod in the water, causing David to turn his head at exactly the wrong moment before the trout crashed into his face and a solid snapping sound filled David's world. Immediately after, everything went dark and David found himself standing before the laughing woman, wondering just what had happened.

"A rainbow trout broke my neck? Is this some kind of bad joke?" David asked as realization dawned on him. "This has to be a joke!"

"It isn't, but it's funny, isn't it?!" The woman laughed. She wore a sparkling blue dress with long golden hair that fell down to her shoulders before it started to curl. And David might have thought that she was beautiful if she currently weren't panting for air due to laughing so much. Laughing at him.

"No... it can't be..." David stated breathlessly. "I'd just got accepted into college with full scholarships!"

"You were probably going to drop out anyway." The woman replied in a bored fashion.

"I had a secret that I was going to tell my best friend next week that I've been keeping for ten years!"

"You probably should have told her earlier then."

"I even told my girlfriend that I would marry her when I got back from vacation!"

"With so many death flag phrases, it's no wonder you died." The woman stated, yawning slightly. "But don't worry, your story isn't over yet if you don't want it to be."

"What do you mean?" David asked. "Did I survive?"

"Nope. You're as dead as a door nail." The woman waved away any hope that might have been rising inside of David. "But your death amused me enough that I can resurrect you in another world, if you want."

"Another world?" David asked. "Can't I just go back to my old one?"

"Or course not! There are rules to this you know!" The woman replied as if it were common knowledge. "Speaking of rules, normally people I meet ask the same questions over and over again in the same order. So aren't you going to ask who and what I am."
