Amelie sat down opposite me and gave me the most unsettling gaze.

"So... How did you get here?"

"C-Can I ask a question first?"

"No."

"Right... uh... Well I just went to sleep last night and I think in the middle of the night I felt a huge pressure on my head like something was on it. I woke up and everything looked out of focus for a second then it was back to normal. I thought it was just me until I went outside and spoke to Oliver... Then Myrnin tried to kill me... And you were different."

"That's quite interesting. Myrnin is working on a few projects, I will send someone to ask him about that. As for him attacking you, he will be dealt with."

"Thanks." I looked down at my lap. If keeping Amelie's gaze in... Well my Morganville was hard it was near impossible with this one.

"Did you come with anyone else?"

"Uh yeah, Shane, Eve and Michael."

"Are they important to you in any way?" I looked up at her then. What did she mean by that?

"Of course they are, yeah. Shane's my boyfriend and Eve and Michael are my best friends."

Amelie stared at me for a few very uncomfortable moments. "I would like to meet them."

"Oh... Kay. Do you want me to go-"

"What do you think mobile phones were invented for?"

"I don't have mine. I left it at the house." I really tried not to make a habit of leaving my phone. You never know when you would needing to save your life. But for some reason, I had decided not to pick it up and was regretting it.

Amelie was going to say something to me when the device that probably connects to the receptionist buzzed.

"Yes?"

"Three people are here to see you.  They say they are looking for Claire Danvers."

"Send them up." Amelie hung up and turned her gaze to me again. "I'm assuming you know who they are." I nodded. "They must have been worried about you."

Something about her – well everyone – had felt off since I first spoke to then but I couldn't put my finger on it before. But now I think I knew; They don't have any emotions. Comparing how they spoke to me before I got here to how they speak to me now.

Even when I first met Amelie from my Morganville, she wasn't like this. She wouldn't ask if my friends were important to me, she would know without asking.

"Can I have some water?"

"What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing much..." She would probably grill me more if the assistant didn't open the door and my housemates came in.

"Oh my god, there you are!" Eve said coming in first and giving me a hug.

"You left your phone at the house and Myrnin had no clue who you were and neither did Oliver. It was freaking me out. Where have you been?"

"I went to my appointment then I went to the coffee shop. Then I came back here cos Amelie wanted to see me again."

Shane wrapped me in a huge hug.

"Don't ever do that again."

"I'm sorry, I didn't realise I'd been out so long." Michael gave me a hug, then I remembered Amelie was still in the room. "Oh... I was just talking to her."
