All the lyrics that aren't already songs, I've written. So... Don't take plz
It had been casual and the weeks and months seemed to blend together. Sometimes we'd even fall asleep in each others beds. Which made songwriting so much easier. The rest of Arch Enemy decided to take it easy, and I took that as a great opportunity. We had already recorded and written 5 songs, and lil, for some reason, was holding back. A small journal was on her nightstand, but I chalked that up to a diary. Today, though, it was storming horribly. Snow pelted the roof so hard that it sounded like war. I had sat on the couch in the living room, staring at the window at the mess. Lily was in her room with a guitar, I think. She's not shy with riffs. Shrugging, I decided to talk to her. I'm sure it didn't snow in Texas a lot. (Fun fact: it hasn't snowed here in four years.) I made my way up the stairs not hearing guitar, not anything really. I hmmed maybe she was just chillin. I knocked a couple times and heard a faint, 'come in' from behind the door. She was sitting on her bed, back against the wall and her legs were propped up to where she could write. "Watcha doin?" I asked, plopping down next to her. She shut the journal. "Uhm... Just playin around with some stuff..." "Can I see?" Her face heated up. "I mean it's not very good..." I leaned forward and smiled. "Nothing is. Can I see?" She looked around uncomfortably and handed me the journal. "Some of it was from like, eighth grade..." The pages had so much writing in them, tabs, notes, whatever. Some were in pencil, others in marker. None were titled.
One in red attracted my eyes the most, assigning parts to certain people... Girl, Dad. Each was in a bracket either in red or black. I read intently, becoming almost absorbed in the lyrics.[Girl]
Do not push me
I am not a doll
One cannot be manufactured wrong
Allow me to live my life
As I please
So keep out and I'll just leave
[Dad]
No! There is no guarantee that what you do is apart from me
Appease the man and you'll do well
Don't give me trouble you'll go to hell
[Girl]
No more
I will rise
I am not the only one
Built this way, to your demise
I wish you'd go but no avail
[Dad]
No. more. back. Talk. You will be silenced and the rest will be dead
You are so lucky they don't have your head
[Girl]
No muzzle can chain me, no borders no wall...And that was all that was scratched out on the piece of paper. I looked up at lily surprised, obviously knowing the meaning of the song. "Is this why you didn't want to talk to me about your parents?" She sighed heavily and made strong eye contact. "I'm not their daughter anymore. They said so themselves." My mouth dropped open, putting the journal down and pulling her close. I planted a kiss to make her feel better, but she just ended up crying on my shoulder. "I'm sorry, I'm... I'm so sorry..." "Don't be sorry for someone else's ignorance." Her chest rose up and down quickly, and she gripped my jacket, tightly. "No, I just," Lily wiped her eyes, her face red. "I don't wanna bother you with any of this." She hung her head, and sniffled quietly. I raised my hand and placed it on her jawline, tilting her head up. I made fierce eye contact and kissed her. Both of our eyes closed immediately. After we had indulged for a little bit, I pulled her close again, and she laid her head on my chest. "Thanks for everything." She hummed. "No, thank you." I replied. "... I've... Been meaning to tell you something..." Lily raised her head on my shirt and looked at me sweetly. "What?" "... I... Wrote down everything you said all those months ago." The red head furrowed her brows. "Liss, what are you talking about?" "Everything you yelled at Doyle, it was good material for a song." "Show me it then." She replied, now sitting across from me as apposed to on me. I got up and retrieved a couple matted sheets of paper from my dresser and hurried back to Lil's room. Sitting back down on the bed, I handed her the mass of messy notes and unneeded pencil marks. I watched my girlfriend read it, and I couldn't help but smile at how cute she was. She had coerced her hair into braids after obviously talking a shower, and she always sat with her legs twisted in a pretzel. Lily had worn her hoodies with the sleeves all the way up to where you could only see her fingers, and the girl was reading the lyrics so intensely. "... I feel like I didn't say all of this..." She mused, looking back up at me with those big doe eyes. "Well, obviously not all of it, but, the 'don't hide behind ignorance' part you did say and I thought it was bad ass." Lily smiled at me and giggled. "This could actually be a great song, all we need is music which I've got covered." It was true, she was actually amazing at guitar, not to mention bass which was practically her favorite instrument. (Other than the vibraslap.) And on top of that, we got Daniel to do drums. And after recording it, we released our EP that month, dubbing our group, AL. And it blew up overnight.
Sorry about all the time skips lol I'm so bad at this.
