After uncapping the lid to my red tinted Chapstick, I lifted the smooth substance to my parted lips and applied the flavored lip balm. A smirk escaped my lips as I enjoyed the fresh layer on my lips. A second later, I hear a chuckle come from next to me.
I glance over at him and playfully bump him with my shoulder.
"What?" I laugh with a slight hint of annoyance.
"What kind of Chapstick is that?" he asks.
"Cherry, and don't judge my choose in lip care."
I fiddle with the small container and await his witty reply.
"Can I try some?".
That's strange. Usually we banter back and forth or a while.
I guess the circumstances have changed our relationship. I let out a sigh and nod my head softly.
Suddenly he grabs the Chapstick from my frail hands and cups my chin in his soft hands.
"What are you doing!? M-" before I can finish my statement his lips attack mine.

"Can you believe we're already in 7th grade? Man, I feel sooooo old and next year well be the queens of the school!".
I arch my eyebrows as I continue to take in my friends over enthusiasm.
"Kelly, sorry to break it to you but were in middle school, were nerdy, and we have the fashion sense of a year old burrito," I go on, "if we were queen of anything it would be the trash bin behind Taco Bell".
She just shrugs and continues to chatter on about the new school year.
Kelly and I have been friends for a while now, we don't have a lot in common but we get by. While I am a little more reserved, she can talk up a storm. Sometimes I just want to smack duct tape across her mouth and find the nearest bunker to survive her next whirlwind of a conversation.
While Kelly continues her onslaught of words, I clutch the straps of my backpack closer to me and we make our way towards the entrance of the school. As much as I love Kelly for being there for me, sometimes I wish I had a friend that didn't make me want to claw my ears out every five seconds.
"So do we have any classes together before lunch?"
I'm shaken out of my thoughts and lift my arms to examine the paper she had handed me. Of course my dumbass had already forgotten the schedule I had stashed away in my bag.
"One second", I reply.
I pull my blue and black backpack across one shoulder and open the nearest pocket. After maneuvering my way around extra pencils and gum I find my schedule. Shoving my backpack back over my other shoulder, I unfold the piece of paper.
Of course.
"Sorry, Kelly. We dont have any classes together."
As much as I hated the constant blabbering from my friend, it was comforting to have a familiar face in class.
I can't stand walking into a classroom on the first day and worrying about not knowing anyone. Or even having no one to sit with.
"Aww man, that sucks!" Kelly whined, "I guess I'll see ya at lunch".
Yeah.
Later that Day
My tummy continued to grumble as I waited for the bell to ring. Honestly. I hate the first week back at school. The teachers go on and on about how this year is going to be great, we get a bunch of useless papers, and they treat us like weve never had a class in our lives! I wish I could just stick it to these teachers and tell them to stick it up their a-
