Chapter 3

LUKES POV

"Are you sure you're ok walking me?" Zoe said,

"Yeaah, it's dark. Don't want you to get attacked or anything,"

She just giggled. Too cute.

"So why was Joe so argumentative?" I asked,

"I don't know. I really don't. I thought he was just showing off to you, but when he kept cutting me off halfway through my sentence and being rude, I really don't know what to think. He's never like this. What if he doesn't want to be my friend anymore?" She sounded a bit panicked and looked up to me for an answer.

"Hey, I'm sure things will work things out," I said reassuring her,

"But what if they don't?" Zoe said sitting on a nearby bench, "I have other friends but Joe's by far my closest friend.

I trust him with everything and we hang out so much and I-"

I interrupted her with a hug,

"Don't worry about it. It will work out." I rubbed her back as we hugged.

"Oi, you two!"

We broke the hug and looked to where the voice was coming from.

It was Joe.

"Joe what are you doing," Zoe said standing up,

"More like what are you two doing?!" He seemed quite angry,

"Dude it was a hug," I said,

"Pft, yeah right," Joe said giving me the evils,

"Joe! Stop being a dick!" Zoe said still upset,

"No, you stop being a whore!"

Right that was it. I walked right up into his face,

"Don't you ever, talk to a girl like that!" I said getting really angry with this idiot,

"Don't tell me what to do!" He gave me a push,

"Guys stop!" Zoe shouted from behind,

I turned to look at Zoe and before I knew it Joe threw a punch that hit my jaw.

I threw a right hook and it Made him fall over.

I heard Zoe crying.

"Zoe are you okay?" I asked, running up to her,

"Is-is he g-gonna be ok?" She said between panicked breathing,

"Yeah," I hugged her, "I'm so sorry,"

"L-Luke!" She shouted.

I turned around, Joe was stood there and that's all I saw before I blacked out.

When I woke up I was in a place I didn't recognise. I looked around and realised it was a hospital.

Zoe ran up to my bed, "Carol, he's awake!"

Carol then joined Zoe at my bed, "are you okay?"

"Um, w-what happened?" I asked confused,

"You and Joe got into a fight and he knocked you out," Zoe said with tear stains on her face,

"Zoe, are you ok?" I asked seeing her makeup dragged down her face,

"Yeah I am now that you are," she said with a smile,

Her comment made me smile. I reached my hand and touched around my eye, I winced,

"Don't do that!" Zoe said moving my hand away from my face, she snapped a picture of me and showed it to me. I had a lump at the side of my right eye the size of a golf ball.

I was looking at the picture when nurse came in shutting the curtains, "Hello Luke, I'm Melissa. So I need to ask a few-"

She looked at me and her jaw dropped,

"It's not that bad," I say,

"No, no, aren't you from 5 second of summer!?" She asked,

Wow the first person who's recognised me, "yeah, I am," I said smiling at her,

She was looking at me in a dreamy way and she suddenly snapped out of her daze, "oh I'm so sorry, I'm being awfully unprofessional." She walked round to the side of the bed that my bad eye was on. She covered my good eye with a black piece of plastic that looked a bit like a flat spoon, "can you see out of this eye?"

"It's a bit blurry but yeah," I answers.

"Well you're lucky your not blind. It looks like his knuckle came into hard contact to your eye. The blur will clear up as you heal." She told me,

"How long will it take to get my face back to normal?" I asked,

"About 1-2 weeks. Not long. If you're feeling ok, you can go." She finished her sentence, flashed a smile and walked out.

"I thought you said you're band wasn't that popular?" Zoe asked as I put my shoes on,

"It's not," I said laughing to myself.

"You have to tell the others!"

"Aha, I will," I flashed a smile at Zoe, "where's Joe?"

"He's at home. The school have found out what happened and has stopped Joe from going on the exchange." Carol said in an annoyed way,

"Wait so, am I gonna have to go home?" I said disappointed,

"Maybe. The school needs to find someone who's willing to have you as an exchange and go to Australia."

Zoe gasped, "I could do it!" She said excitedly, "I could ring my mum, we have a spare room, my brother wouldn't mind having someone else in the house, mum would-"

"Slow down Zoe!" Carol said laughing, "we'll have to talk to your mum.

Me and Zoe just looked at each other, smiling like idiots.

It would be amazing to spend my 6 months with Zoe.
