The tension was palpable in the air as Omen’s golemi took the ring, facing off against Gideon’s. Interestingly enough, the golemi split into two, a trick no doubt learned from watching Cala, and yet it was more for the Nephilim. The two golemi showed a visual proof of his internal dichotomy, one of them angelical but devastating and the other seductively demonic. Both rippled in the effort of bringing forth wings that Omen had yet to produce on his own, but neither one would ever be capable of flight. Golemi did have a few restrictions.

“Alright Omen the Angelspawn; let’s see what the two halves of you can do.” Gideon cajoled, her flippant tone hiding how good of a sign this was. Simply being subconsciously aware that there were two pieces to one whole hadn’t been enough progress for Angelspawn it seemed; now he was seeing two pieces act in concert together. So with a little concentrated effort, Gideon split her own golemi into two. Whereas the Nephilim’s golemi were reflective of his disjointed halves, working as mirrors to each other, Gideon’s two golemi were identical in appearance but working independently. One half of Gideon was pulled into attack while the other was settled into defence.

The Demonic aspect of Omen’s golemi held back, gaining a little independence to mirror Gideon’s defensive one in animalistic wariness, while Angelspawn’s golemi charged forward in silently righteous fury. The mudling’s angel wings beat at the air in futile agitation because it couldn’t follow through on the instinct for an airborne assault, and Gideon’s more controlled golemi simply dodged the powerful wing swipes. While the two initial attackers pummeled at each other in reckless abandon, something more interesting was occurring between the defensive golemi; they were learning from the others. It took them longer to engage, but when they finally did, it was less brute force and more debilitating precision. They weren’t ripping each other to shreds but instead surgically disabling the other.

Before the melee between Nephilim and Fury could properly engage however, the watching predator took it’s opportunity to strike. To most of the observers, Gideon was wholly engaged into the golemi fight, so it would be a great time to catch her off guard. Only Mardrom and Virgil knew that Gideon wasn’t giving the fight in the center even a cursory focus, she was laying a trap. A baited trap with her s the lure and the creature that came snarling out of the woods fell for it hook, line and sinker. In the split second the beast came flying out of the woods, Gideon knew two things for certain. One: it was a Hell Cat, the only natural predator to dangerous beasts such as Hell Hounds, Devil Dogs, Wargs and Trollkin; two: with her arms and hands already burned and partially out of commission, there was no way she was getting through this without a little bit of pain involved. Hell Cats are ferocious creatures that nature has gifted with astonishing intelligence and a resistance to many Portentum Magicks. They would actually break down the wards, wearing down magical shields by absorbing the power; the more Hell Cats in their Kindle (group) the faster they would go through the magical energy. Gideon had never seen just one on its own though it’s been known to happen; a single Hell Cat would leave it’s Kindle to start a new one on its own, picking up others that were willing to leave their own groups.

The Hell Cat in particular was a huge beast, looking like a tiger mixed with a very pissed off honey badger, then some porcupine quills were thrown into the cocktail for additional flavour. And she was gloriously scarred from all the battles already won in her life, fat in a way that warned Gideon not to just kill her; this Hell Car was a breeding female and looked ready to drop her cubs at any time. Which begged the question; what had possessed her to come charging out on the attack?

Intake One only realised that they were under attack after the Hell Cat had barrelled through the battling quad of golemi, though Virgil had reacted to the threat almost more quickly than even Gideon could, thanks to his teleporting. Even as Gideon braced for impact from the charging Hell Cat, Virgil popped into the space right next to her. He had been hired by the Dragon to act as security and although Gids was more than capable of handling herself, it was still his job. Unfortunately for them both, Gideon has some finely tuned, well trained instincts and already being primed for an attack only exasperated the situation because even as Gideon geared herself up to handle the oncoming onslaught, she was also reacting to Virgil suddenly entering her personal space. So the Fury had herself torque to kill but Gideon was also trying to twist Virgil out of harm’s way at the exact same time; which left her exposed to the Hell Cat’s attack.
