After spending my first night on the island, it was safe to say that I felt like I had achieved something big by making it there.
To wake up to the sound of tropical birds was like a beautiful atmospheric soundtrack to a movie which suited Pure Shores so well. Music was always in the air from J's records. Beautiful sounds which echoed through the spinning machine with voices like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix bringing everyone to forget what year it was.
Everything here was perfect, but I did worry about one thing...
The other girls. J's girls to be exact.

Don't get me wrong, they'd been kind to me but I felt so inferior to them.
They all had long flowing hair and tanned skin and looked every inch the hippie goddesses that belonged to the island. All of them seemed so angelic and innocent in their manner.
They weren't just here to sleep with J, they truly loved it here. They loved him, the people, the island and the nature.
Here, it wasn't about sex or social media, it was about your own love for your own life.
No drugs. No alcohol.
Just nature.
Apparently a lot of people on the island were addicts who had recovered because of the islands strict policies. Since J didn't believe in anything unnatural, that meant that we couldn't either, nothing that could alter the mind was allowed as we needed only each other and our little paradise to give us a euphoric high on life and his girls demonstrated that so well. Appearing as happy and in love all the time liked brainwashed beauties lining up for a glimpse of him.
I failed to see how I could be a part of this though. I never had their looks or attitudes whatsoever and the fact that J was even looking my way was a shock to me.

Out of all the girls, I'd particularly befriended Emma. She seemed really nice and genuine. I also liked Sadie, we never spoke a lot but she made an effort with me and smiled every time we seen each other. Although, I was welcomed by the islanders, I never truly felt like I belonged. Not until later on anyway...

"Come and sit with us, Cherie!" Emma shouted as she sat near the record player with Sadie, both of them swaying to the music and dancing playfully as the light beamed off their skin.

California Dreamin' was playing.

I walked over and went to sit down when I was interrupted by Sadie grabbing my arms and leading me over in a dance-like manner.
"No, no, no, Cherie, you've gotta dance with us." She laughed.
I wasn't the best dancer. They seemed so elegant and carefree and all I was doing was worrying if anyone was watching me.
"Hey, relax, Cherie, breathe through the music and let it all go." Emma said as the pair of them danced near the carefully placed crystals on the floor. It looked so dreamy. Like a scene from a movie that's still so vivid in my mind today, as I stood in amazement of them.
