School Crush - Ashton Irwin One Shot
You smoothed your dress out and rearranged the papers on your desk, although you weren’t quite sure why because everything was already organized. You had been rather fidgety and nervous that morning, but you couldn’t seem to find a good reason to why. The only theory you could come up with (and the one that you refused to believe) was that you were nervous because today was Wednesday – music day. Every Wednesday at 11, you took your group of second graders to see Mr. Irwin, the attractive music teacher and undoubtedly the reason you were so nervous.
This was your third year at the school, so you had gotten to know all the teachers, some more than others; Mr. Irwin happened to be more. He had been the first teacher to approach you and talk to you, since he had only been there two year longer than you and was relatively new as well. He had brought you coffee almost every single morning for your first few months at the school (and stilled popped in with coffee about once a week) and was always ready to lend you a helping hand, but it hadn’t been until the end of your first year that you really got to know him.
It was a Saturday, but you had to go into school to do some planning for the last week of school. Since no students and very few teachers would be there, you didn’t bother dressing up and you just wore some skinny jeans and an All Time Low t-shirt. You had bumped into Mr. Irwin while you were heading towards your room, and you had chatted idly for a few seconds before he had noticed your shirt.
“You like All Time Low?” He’d asked, and when you nodded he continued speaking.
“I’m going to a daylong festival the week after school lets out, and All Time Low and similar bands will be there. I’ve been looking for someone to go with, so would you like to come with me?” You had immediately accepted, not only glad to see All Time Low in concert but also to spend some time with Mr. Irwin outside of school so you could really talk.
The day of the concert had gone much better than you had ever dreamed, starting with Ashton (as he had insisted you call him) paying for your ticket. The first performance was All Time Low, followed by another band you loved and then lunch (paid for, again, by Ashton, despite your protests). By the end of the day, you had seen 6 performances that you loved, eaten way too much junk food, and knew things about Ashton that you never would have guessed. When you had gotten home and texted your friends about it, they all insisted that he was the “perfect catch”. After thinking about the date you had to agree with them, and there began your crush (as your students would say) on Mr. Irwin.
But that was almost a year ago, and, unfortunately, nothing much had happened between the two of you since. So there you stood, nervous because of a little school girl crush on a fellow teacher to whom you probably meant nothing.
A few seconds later, your students began walking into the classroom, distracting you from your thoughts about Ashton. They all smiled at you and some said “hello”, and you chatted with a few of their parents while the children placed their things in their cubbies and sat down at their desks. As more and more students came in, more of the parents left and you took your place in front of the whiteboard. You usually let the kids talk to each other in the morning, so you were staring blankly at the back wall, not really thinking about anything, when a few gurls walked over.
“Miss (y/l/n)? We have music class with Mr. Irwin today, right?” One of them – Olivia – asked.
“Yep, every Wednesday,” you told her, smiling. They immediately began glancing at each other and smiling, and you raised your eyebrows.
“I take it you’re excited?” You asked, and they all nodded.
“Yes. Mr. Irwin’s really cute,” Joann admitted, blushing slightly.
