I lick my now melting cookie dough icecream sigh in content. How can something be so good. I look at Kenya and see she has vanilla icecream on her noes. I laugh and she glares.

"What?" I smirk.

"Oh, nothing..." Ms. Arton chuckles and gets a napkin to wipe Kenya's noes.

"Stop being silly, Mercetie. Kenya sweetie, you had a little icecream on your noes."

After Ms. Arton allowed Kenya to stay at the house, she gave her a room and some clothes from my closet. She was overjoyed to have another child. The next day while we were at school, she went out and got the room designed for Kenya. She even redid my room, because she didn't want me to feel left out. I was pretty happy. The first time she designed my room, she didn't know my taste, but now that she does, it's cool.

She's been living with us for about 3 weeks. Ms. Arton has really gotten close with Kenya over these few weeks. So a few hours ago, we went to the courthouse so we could make it official. Kenya was now Ms. Arton's daughter and my sister.

Well, technically not. But who cares. I could use a sister redo. The first one I had turned out to be a complete maniac.

After we left the courthouse, Ms. Arton had said we just had to go to the mall. We had bought a lot of new clothes. Ms. Arton told us her parents sometimes give her spontaneous big chunks of money. She usually doesn't know what to do with them, but now that she has us, she just can't help not dressing us up. I couldn't complain. I like me some cute combat boots.

It's now about 6, and we decided to end out the shopping spree with icecream. Me and Kenya of course jumped on that idea. We weren't allowed to have it with our old parents.

In the other planets, parents are more stricter. We're only allowed to have sweets on special occasions, because they fear if we eat too much, we won't be in shape for battle. And that applies to children too. We mostly eat protein, vegetables, and fruits. All of us kids hated the basically unwritten rule. But, I'm not on Mercury anymore, so I can.

I smile to myself. Gotta love Earth.

Ms. Arton gets up from her chair and smiles at Kenya and I.

"So, I just wanted to tell you guys how happy I am to have two precious daughters in my life. As you all know, before you guys came, my life was a total wreck. My heart was literally torn in half. And then you came like a light into my life." She stops momentarily to wipe a few stray tears. People are starting to watch and my cheeks start to heat up. Great, now everyone in here will hear this really sappy speech.

"Anyway, so we can remember this joyous moment in our lives, I wanted to give you both gifts." She takes a box out of her purse and opens it. I gasp. It's absolutely beautiful.

There are two necklaces with gold chains and a little heart with diamonds surrounding it, and little stitch marks in the middle of the heart. I thought it was just Ms. Arton getting emotional, but now it's me.

I look to the side a little, And see Kenya trying to hold back some tears too. After all we've been through, it feels good to get some parent love. Something I thought I would never get back after that tragic day.

I get up from my chair and wrap Ms. Arton in a tight embrace. I feel another pair of hands wrap around me, and I know it's Kenya.

I can faintly hear the people in the background awning to themselves, but I barely notice. I'm too deep in our group embrace to acknowledge them.

I sigh happily. I want to stay in this moment forever.

But of course, it never does.
