elisa's pov

i sat quietly, staring out of the tiny airplane window as i flew closer and closer to the place i would always call home. my best friend, morgan adams, rested her head on my shoulder, fast asleep and covered in cheez-it crumbs. just a few days ago, we were sitting on kailua beach, feeling the bright sun beat down on us. i didn't feel too upset about leaving hawaii behind; the past is the past, and i've always loved change... although, when everything you see is one color, you kind of have to. as we glided down towards the landing strip, the flight attendant's dainty voice came over the intercom, telling the passengers to buckle their seat-belts. i gently shook morgan awake, clicking her belt in place as i did.

"are we there yet?" she mumbled, swiping the tiny crumbs off of her jacket.

i nodded, smiling to myself as i look out towards the city lights. "god, i missed this place."

morgan voiced her agreement and lay her head back on my shoulder, looking past me to the window.

a few minutes later, we were striding through the airport, trying to get to our friends as soon as we could. the fluorescent lights glinted on the tiles as morgan and i's gucci slides scuffed against the floor. with the vision that i had been blessed with, the flashing screens and sliding doors of the airport seemed to be drowned in coffee. through the brown-tinted exit doors, i could see the sleek car that held the friends we had known for so long.

"they're outside! let's go!!" i squealed, grabbing my friend by the hand and dragging her to the door. morgan giggled as we ran, slowing down a bit as we quickly got out of breath. the hot california weather washed over us as we stepped outside and began heading for what seemed to be the most expensive car in the lot. the doors clicked open as ryland, morgan's brother, stepped out, followed by his fiance, shane. we rushed over to them, dropping our bags as we crashed into a group hug.

"the squad is reunited!" shane said, adding an obnoxius mouth pop to the end, "how have you two been?"

as morgan rambled on about how seeing all blue matched her personality, my eyes shifted towards ryland's ring. the band was encrusted with diamonds, and it was engraved with a simple "r+s". i felt an unusual twinge of jealousy in my chest, and my mind slowly drifted towards the thought of soulmates. catching me stare, ryland turned to me with a questioning gaze. i simply smiled, forcing the envious thoughts out of my head. not gonna happen, lis, i told myself, as i listened in to the trio's discussion about what we should get for lunch.

"get in the car losers, i already postmated chipotle!" shane yelled, rushing us into the leather seats of the g. "also... i thought the best way to welcome morgan and elisa home would be to film a video with them!" he ranted excitedly, while morgan and i rolled our eyes.

all i wanted to do was sleep, and i knew morgan felt the same, but i couldn't bear to make shane upset. "alright, i'll do it," i spoke through a yawn.  morgan huffed, pretending to be angry, but she eventually agreed as well.

"ugh thank GOD! if it weren't for you bitches i wouldn't have a video this week!" shane exclaimed in his infamous queen voice. "i'll call my cameraman and we can start after stuffing our faces like the pigs we are!" he added, causing us all to burst out laughing, throwing various 'me's and 'mood's into the chaos. as ryland started on the drive home, i couldn't help but think back to something shane had mentioned earlier... something my mind wouldn't let me forget.

when did he get a cameraman?
