Kate and Hope propelled the door pushing the last boxes inside their apartment.
The apartment, which they had found after hunting for weeks was everything they had been hoping for.

The apartment overlooked the London eye. The view was one of the primary reason why they were so adamnt on this property.

Getting an apartment at such a prime location had been a total catch. They finally settled on the couch heaving a sigh of relief.

"Let's order pizza", Hope suggested.

Since they were way too exhausted to step out of their apartment, Kate nodded in agreement.
They switched on the TV and tuned in to news. The weather forecast predicted heavy storms over weekend.
Too tired to be bothered about it, they just ate their pizza in silence.

"Would you like a beer?", Hope called out from the kitchen after they had put away all the dishes.

"I am tired honey, I am just going to flop on to my bed",Kate mumbled sleepily.
She barely made it to her bed and drifted off into slumberland.

The next morning, Kate woke up and checked her bedside table to look at the clock.
It showed 9:00am. "Jesus, I have been sleeping for 10 hours straight", she thought.

She walked into the living room to  find the apartment empty.
She decided to fix herself a coffee, where she noticed a sticky note on the refrigerator.

"Kate, I am going out with Adam.
We are visiting his mum, Grace and we'll be back by evening. Sorry to tell you at such a  short notice.
PS: The kitchen isn't stocked yet.
Please go out  and grab some food and ohh, could you  please pick up some groceries on your way back?
PPS: Get me rice krispies and pop tarts.
Love,
Hope."

Kate groaned.
She picked up the grocery list which Hope had compiled and placed on the table.

Pulling her hair back into a ponytail, grabbed her coat and made her way towards the door. Kate walked onto the street taking in her surroundings.

Growing up in Luton in Bedfordshire, she was awed by the crowd all jostling towards various places.
On her way, she watched people jogging, mothers dropping their children at the local school, kids playing in the park, couples strolling around the streets & tourists trying to navigate their ways.
Kate found a cafe at the end of the block and she settled herself after finding a quite corner in the place.
She ordered bacon, cheese and egg sandwich along with a cappuccino.

Kate and Hope had, had their first day planned together. She felt sympathetic for Grace though.

Growing up, Grace had always been like a second mother to her. She remembered the numerous play dates they had had at Adam's place.

Adam had been Kate and Hope's classmate in kindergarden and had later moved to London where he graduated from London business school.

Grace was suffering from stage three cancer and though the doctors had tried everything possible, there wasn't much they could do for her. She now spent her rest of the days in their apartment with David, Adam's father taking care of her.

Adam and Hope had been dating since the elementary school and Kate hoped that they got married some day and she found someone like Adam.

Finishing her sandwich and coffee, Kate walked out of the cafe and walked four blocks down to the supermarket when she had spotted earlier on their trips to Waterloo.

Kate briskly gathered all the items on her list and made a beeline towards the billing counter.

She lifted those bags clumsily and on her way out knocked against a stranger.
"Hey, I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Are you hurt ? Let me help you, Miss...".

Kate looked up and found herself staring at the pair of the most exquisite hazel she had ever seen.
Gathering herself, she stammered to string a perfect response.

"Its Kate. Kate Evans. No, it's totally fine. I wasn't paying attention either.
Thank you for helping me."

"Kate Evans, I am Andrew Brown. Let me make it up to you and buy you coffee ?"

Kate had no plans now that Hope wasn't here and she had picked up all the stuff she needed.
Of course a coffee with such a handsome stranger wouldn't hurt she thought.

"Yes, I guess that'd be okay."

Kate followed Andrew's lead oblivious to the fact that perhaps this was the moment she would later regret.
