Untitled Part 16

I rush up to my bedroom and tare open the closet where I store my suit. Quickly tying my hair back (thank god for no broken hair bands) I start putting the suit on. It takes a bit longer than usual, as I find it quite painful to bend over and shift my ribs in any way. But at last I get my suit on and activate EVA. The suit comes to life and I immediately receive a dose of painkillers and a bit of adrenalin. "Ow!", I scream when as needle pierces my skin. I wasn't ready for the shot, as I hadn't ordered it. "What the hell?" I mutter, seriously afraid EVA is bugging in such a dangerous way. Or worse, that she's hacked.

But then I notice small text scrolling in the down left corner of my vision.

Your such a baby. Bruce recommended you have some painkillers before you leave. -A

"Al?"

The one and only.

I smile. Al has done this before, kind of "texted" me in the middle of missions (although she had never had control over my suit, which is a tad bit worrying) and it always makes me feel better. Sometimes it felt like guarantee that I was going to make it back home, which is stupid, I know, but still.

I walk on to the balcony (A/N: did she have one? Now she has one) and lift off. "You better behave you little fox", I chuckle to Al.

Haha. I'm not sure that I will.

I smile as I start flying over to the destination. Steve had told me that the rest of the team were already on the jet and that they were going to go on ahead.  I'd told him "Rogers. Go ahead, I'll catch up". I'm not sure he got my pun, or alternatively he's heard it so many times before that he doesn't bother reacting (how boring). Ether way, I didn't tell him I'd probably use over half of my power reserves just by flying there, but that's details.

I arrive about five minutes later, and am greeted by pure chaos. At first I don't understand what is going on. People were running around in panic, but I didn't see what they were running from. Untill I noticed that some of the puople were moving in a different way, clumisily, like they were drunk. And those people seemed to bee atacking the others. They didn't carry weapons though, and seemed to have no common factors with each other than their strange behaviour.

"It's the zombie apocalyps" I whispered.

(A/N: I so should have ended the last chapter here lol)

Of course it's not the zombie apocalyps you dork. Although, something is defenitely wrong.

"You think?"

Omg Amy don't just float around, DO SOMETHING! Help those people!!

I snapped out of my daze and realized I had to figure some kind of solution to keep the zombbies away from the "non contaminated" people.

A blokade? No, they would just climb over it.

Carrying people to safety? Would take too long and require too much power,

"What the fuck am I supposed to do?" I growled in frustration.

A net?

"How the hell am I supposed to get a net?"

I grabbed one of the zombies and pulled her of a man who was screaming bloody  murder. "Run" I told him, and he did, altough a bit clumsily and still screaming. The zombie woman came at me again and I shot her with a Nigh-Night dart. It did nothing. Then the zombie lady lifted her head and her long hair fell of her face, and at that moment I noticed the little detail of her eyes beeing closed.

Which made everything so much creepier.

"Al, are you seeing this?"

Yeah. I think they might be in some kind of trance or under mind control. I don't think you can take them down without hurting them, so maybe concentrate on helping civilians?

"Sure. Do you know were the team is?"

Kind of.

How useful. But I let it drop, I had bigger concernes.

Like the fact that I had no idea how to defeat these weird sleepwalking-zombie-people, one of whom was running straight for me. The lady from erlier hadn't apparently gotten enough, but I wasn't so eager to give her more. And here ladies and gents, I came up with a great way to get rid of zombies: throw them.

I grabbed the lady by the wrist and with a little help from my thrusters I threw her almost all the way down the street. Her landing looked a bit painful, but the all around comedy of seeing a person get thrown like that made me burst out laughing.

Yeet!

"Jesus Christ Al, really?"

(A/N: Yes, I am aware of the ignoring of time in this joke, but are you acctually upset? If you are, calm down, it's a joke)

Go yeet some more people please

Cackling I went looking for another victim.

~~*~~

Tossing people is surprisingly hard on craked ribs. I know, Shocking. But I mean, it's the best plan I have at the moment, and I have neather the time or the energy to try and figure out something more sufficiant.

The darts should work in less than ten seconds, but half a minute of fighting later she was still standing. And then I also noticed the little fact that she had der eyes closed. I don't know how I missied it, even though her hair was hanging over her face come on, I should have noticed. And as soon as I did, everything became even more creepy.

"Al, are you seeing this?"

Yeah. I think they might be in some kind of trance or under mind control. I don't think you can fight them, just concentrate on helping civilians.

"Sure. Do you know were the team is?" I started hoarding people in the right direction. Away.

Kind of.

How useful. But I let it drop, I had bigger concernes.

Down the street I spotted various goverment employed people with the job to help, building a barrikade. I knew it wouldnt' do much, but I started helping them. It was slow work, useless, and the zombies were already coming near. To my horror I saw soldiers shooting at the people runing towards us, surely aiming for the ones with their eyes closed, but also hitting ones with their eyes open. I continued working. The work of lifting and moving heavy thing was straing on my body, so I turned back to help with the civilians instead.

I hadn't noticed, but the reason the barricade wasn't alredy overrun, and the civilians were getting to safety, was that the zombies had slowed. They moved now like propper zombies, but with the slight difference that they were compleatly silent. Which was even more creepy than moaning and groaning.

Before I could ask the police officer what the Fuck thought was going on, they stopped. Every single one, stopped at the same time. And okay yes, there weren't an awful lot of them, like maybe twenty what I could see (probably more one other streets) but it was still scary to see so may people move in perfect syncrony, with their fucking eyes closed.

Then they dropped.

Every gun that was erlier pointed towards the zombies, slowly started lowering, untill some of the zombies moved around a bit and they imediately shot up again.

A/N: You know, it's an odd thing, me writing this. Because of many reasons, but one in particular, I hate this story. Now, please don't get upset, because I'm being dramatic as allways and it's not exactly hate, but close. And even more odd, I have this odd determination to finish this story.

So I'll see you at the next chapter, whenever that may be.
