Chapter One

(Year-2009. Place-Canada)

I gazed at the beautiful streets of Canada, from my windowsill, as a tear left my eye without permission.

Why don't I ever get a happy ending?

Why can't life be a romance novel?

I just needed a day god dammit!

Is that too much to ask for?

I know I'm depressed, I know I cried a little too much last night, before I landed here but I was leaving the place I had practically spent my whole life in !   I was leaving Samantha, Christ Academy and most of all...... I was leaving 'him'

And those threes words he said to me were the most beautiful three words my ears had ever heard.

[Flashback, Year-2008. Place- Manhattan]

"Riley, Riley! Como'n we're late! Wake up sleepyhead!" Samantha screamed into my ears, pulling the covers off me.

A gentle yawn escaped my lips as I abruptly realised today was the first day of ninth grade. I groaned and pulled the covers on me once again, this time tighter. I wasn't really a morning person and Samantha, my Best Friend knew that so that's why she was the one responsible of waking me up every morning. I didn't really have any hatred towards mornings, it's just that I read at night and it pretty much screws up my mornings.

"Go away Sam! I'm not going today, you know how much I loathe first days of school!" I waved her away, closing my eyelids once again.

After a few seconds I felt water trickling down my face, as I realised what was happening.

"Oh no you didn't" I got up, forgetting all about my beauty sleep.

"Oh yes I did" she said, using the same tone as me," Woohoo! I woke you up"

"Okay, okay you win. Now get out, I need to change." I commanded in a flat tone, still pissed with her for waking me up.

"Someone's pissed" Sam said, smirking at me.

I ignored her last comment and slammed my bedroom door. After having a quick shower and slipping into my casuals, I rushed myself, combing my jet black hair at light speed. Glancing at myself one last time in the mirror, I loped my way outside after wishing my family a goodbye.

"Dude you forgot something!" she said, shaking her head in disapproval.

"No I didn't" I replied confidently.

"Where are your big-fat-nerdy glasses?" she questioned me in a mocking tone.

"Holy shit! I did forget them." I gasped in shock, realising I had left them at my side table.

"So like you Riley, now you stay right here, I'll go get them."

I nodded as I watched her back until it vanished from my sight.

******************

The usual hustling and bustling of Christ Academy didn't surprise me one bit. People were meeting after three whole months and the babbling was kind of expected. It put a smile on my face looking at the blissful atmosphere encompassing me....... Well, except for one thing. Oh why did I have to see his face first thing in the morning? Now I'm pretty sure my whole day is going to suck.

Girls were drooling, Guys were giving him envious glares and well me, I was just trying to be inconspicuous. But I guess I failed because the next thing I knew he was walking up to me.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

In. Out. In. Out. BREATHE RILEY!

"Hey Little Miss Nerdy, you know you can't hide from me." Jake smirked, smugness written all over his face.
