Chapter 3
I stepped off my house, inhaling the crispy waft of the breeze as it tickled my skin. The wind ruffled my hair gently, messing it up a little as I observed huddles of leaves swaying with the weather. My thoughts grew intense as the day before's memories started envisaging in my mind. I wondered how on earth had I got myself into something that had to do with Jake Watts.
I sat myself on the porch, palms covering either sides of my face as I starred at the dancing leaves, waiting for my best friend to come in sight. The minutes ticked by making me grow more anxious by the seconds.
How is it going to be practicing a play with him?, my mind spoke. Are we going to finally start becoming friend's? But now since he's turned all hot, he obviously has the advantage, having the ability to make me feel all jittery inside.
Oh what's happened to you Riley! This is just a teeny- tiny play, which will be over in no time, my conscious spoke. In which, apparently are quite intense moments, if you know what I mean, I shot back. But I will not let his touch affect me, I will not, i told myself emphatically. Be strong Riley! It's going to be a piece of cake.
I was abruptly separated from my thoughts as I heard someone heavily panting and gasping for air.
"Sam?", I screamed loud enough for her to hear me "Did you just run a marathon or something?"
"Ha ha ha ha!", she laughed in heavy breaths "No. I just ran from my place, my alarm clock broke so I had to rush on myself"
"Holy shit! Your right! It's fifteen minutes past eight!"
"Good Morning!" she snapped, giving me a flat look.
"I'm sorry Sam, but you might have to run again"
"Why? Aren't we getting a cab?"
"It's too late to search for a cab right now and our school bus has left, so there isn't much of a choice. And besides its just a fifteen minute walk, and we have exactly fifteen minutes. If we run I think we might be able to make it" I said, satisfied.
"So what are you waiting for? Let's do it!" she clutched her hand in mine and we set off, hoping to reach on time.
-------------
"Dude, ten minutes have passed! And we're only half way through" Sam said huffing.
"Hey, you agreed to it. And we didn't have any other option."
"I suppose your right. Anyway....", she trailed off "What is it?"
"What is what?" I asked flabbergasted.
"You know what I'm talking about. By the way why do you always think so much?"
"W-What....N-No, I don't" I flushed, stuttering.
"Everything's going to be fine Riley. He's not going to hurt you, I'm going to see to it he doesn't." she said as if reading my mind.
But I still played innocent.
"H-how did....?.. W-When?" I blushed harder, my face feeling flamed.
Well she ignored my act and instead continued her therapist lecture.
"Look, I'm sure this isn't going to be as bad as you think it is!" she said, with a small smile.
"But I'm not sure of anything right now, I just want to curl up in a ball and never get out of my covers" I said frantically.
