Chapter 4
My brother's constant screaming into my ears disturbed my sleep and I had no choice, but, to wake up. I squinted my eyes and rubbed them thoroughly before putting on my glasses. I muttered under my breath as I made my way into the bathroom, shouting at my eight year old sibling the whole time. On the exterior everyone thinks he's this sweet little kid who means no harm to anybody except to his 14 year old sister. But on the interior, oh you have no idea what a devil he can be! And who let him inside my room anyway? I have strictly forbidden him from entering my private bed chamber except in extreme circumstances! You know what the worst part being is? I can't even raise my hand at him otherwise he'll start feigning tears. So you see, even though I'm supposed to be the one in advantage, being the elder sibling and all, it's the other way round. He can ask for whatever, whenever and he'll get it. Whereas me, on the other hand never will be able to get anything I want. The thing is, my parents think of him as this child prodigy because of some repairing and all he did, at one point of our life so that's why he gets everything I do, like my iTouch for instance. He has one too! Even though he's only eight.
Why isn't there any justice in this world?
"Mom, Riley fell asleep in the bathroom!" Kevin screamed, fully aware that I hadn't slept.
"KEVIN!!!!!!!!!!! I'm very much awake because of someone", I enunciated, "Leave me alone, will you?"
After ten minutes of peace, I exited the bathroom and ran into my room, slipping into my casuals. I brushed my shoulder length hair and tied it into a ponytail, my reflection assuring me I looked okay. Not caring to fake-dress my face with make up, I hopped downstairs, where I was instantly greeted by my blissful family.
"Good morning" I greeted my parents absentmindedly. Kevin smirked at me and I shot daggers at him, through my eyes.
The smell of bacon wafted from the kitchen, making my mouth water and resulting me in loping to where the aroma was escaping from.
"Mmmm. Is it done yet Mom?" I questioned in exhilaration.
"Oh Riley, have a little patience dear. It'll be done in about ten" my mom replied in a teasing tone.
"Ten whole minutes!!!!" I exclaimed, sounding umbrage.
"Go check what the boys are up to until then. They always have their eyes glued on that television" she suggested.
I nodded and skipped back into the living room and my eyes met with exactly what my mom had anticipated.
"Dad!!!!! Kevin?!!" I shouted with my brows furrowed in annoyance.
I waited for what felt like a decade and then with getting no response back, I made my way towards the television and snatched the remote from the hands of Kevin, quickly turning it off.
"Hey what do you think your doing?" Kevin said, indignantly.
"Honey why did you turn off the t.v?" my Dad questioned, facing me.
I rolled my eyes my eyes at Kevin simultaneously sticking my tongue out at him. I turned towards my Dad's gaze and just pointed in the kitchen, indicating my mom.
My Dad seemed to understand and without further questioning, he walked into his study, shutting the door softly after him.
My Dad usually worked at home, spending half the time with my mom which she seemed to appreciate very much. I had also noticed that they had become more closer since the time he had started doing that, not that they already weren't. My parents always acted like a couple who had just newly been married and sometimes I just got tears in my eyes looking at their love for one another.
