Lucy walked along side the human, the tags on her collar jiggling as he led Lucy towards a park. The dog jumped, excited. She spun around in circles, tongue lolling, eyes widened with excitment.

Then she tripped.

The leash tangled around her paws, tightining as she rushed forward, struggling to free herself after a split second that she realized that she had gotten herself trapped. She fell face-foward, letting out a yelp of brief terror and humilation, her head thumping softly against the ground. She flailed wildly, attempting to loosen the leash, hind legs kicking.

She snapped wildly at the blue rope, but to no use. So wriggled, writhing and squirming with much whimpering. Her tail was no longer wagging excitedly, and her eyes were clouded with fustration.

"Woah. Calm down. Got yourself into a tangle, huh, girl?" The man gently smoothed his hands over Lucy's pelt, his fingers hooking against the leash and pulling at it ever so slightly. He removed the leash, unwrapping it from her body and pulling it down from Lucy's legs. "You need to be more careful. Especially more calm. You'll get to run around and play all you want at the dog park."

Lucy sighed with exasperation, a small whimper escaping her jaws. She couldn't wait any longer. Her plan was about to be put into action, and she couldn't wait.

The two walked slowly down the gritty, beaten road.

"Look at the newcomer." A grey bulldog growled, his jowls hanging loosly over his mouth, ribbons of drool forming over the corners of his lips. The puggy dog walded over, his gaze emotionless and unreadable.

"Hey look." The bulldog motioned once more towards Lucy, a look of amusment on his face. A large rottweiler stood behind him, the black dog's muscles rippling beneth his pelt as his slick coat shined in the sun.

"Welcome, petty little dog." The rottweiler barked, his tone deep and dark, unpleasant and fierce. Lucy shrank away, scared and intimidated. She cowered slightly, ears quivering as her muzzle twitched continually.

"Lucy! Time to go!" Her master's voice rang out from behind her, loud and commanding, but also gentle.

The dog hesitated for a split second. She thought about freedom. Being able to live in the wild. Tasting adventure and catching her own prey for once.

She thought about it a split second, than ran.

She dashed for the fence.
