"Chloe?" Beca called, glancing around the seemingly empty apartment. Normally Chloe would be at home eating dinner when Beca returned from work. Today though, the kitchen and living room were empty. The DJ glanced around, smiling at the light from under their bedroom door.
"Chlo?" she called again, inching closer to the door. Something inside rushed around, creating a not so subtle ruckus. Beca opened the door, curiously peering in. "Nothing's happening!" Chloe blurted, bright red. "What ya up to Red?" Beca smirked, searching the room. "Nothing!" Chloe insisted, pulling her into a hug.
Although her suspicions we still there, Beca just took her girlfriend's word for it. Out of the corner of her eye, a little ball of fur dashed into the ensuite. "What was-" she started, just as Chloe sprinted and shut the door. "That was the light," Chloe explained, aggressively nodding her head. Something scratched at the bathroom door and Beca cocked an eyebrow. "Okay... I did something today," Chloe confessed.
Beca moved to sit on the bed, jumping back as Chloe screamed, "Not there!" She glanced at her quizzically and sat down a little to the left. The thing in the bathroom clawed at the door. Chloe sheepishly slipped into the bathroom, coming out with an adorable ginger kitten.
"Chloeeee," Beca whined, "Another one!" Chloe had brought home animal after animal in hopes of keeping them. Each time they had to bring them back to the vet school. "Please Becs," Chloe begged as the kitten slipped from her grasp. Beca scooted away as the kitty wriggled beneath the blanket, stopping near a little lump.
Beca scowled as Chloe gave her a chaste kiss. "They were going to put them down," Chloe pouted. The pout was enough for Beca to almost give way. She contemplated the odds until it hit her. "Them?" she asked incredulously. Chloe smiled weakly as she pulled back the blanket where Beca was originally. Beside the cute ginger was a tiny black cat, curled into a ball. They were spooning, the black one snoring quietly.
Beca watched the kittens, the way the red one cared for the black one. It reminded her lots of Chloe. "What should we name them?"
